That would indeed be good news for us.

IllinoisPrepBullseye has an update on Stan Simpson. It doesn't add much new to what has already been posted. It does confirm that academic issues could determine where Simpson ends up, and that he would like to make a committment in the early signing period in November.--

A new premium report on Stan Simpson says Illinois is really turning up the heat on recruiting Stan Simpson.
They have made Stan their top priority, as they cannot afford to lose another top instate recruit to an out of state school or to a mid-major.
Illinois is also hotly trying to reload on guards for 2008 and 2009 and are going hard after DJ Richardson, Diamond Taylor, Brandon Paul, Chris Colvin, and Joseph Bertrand.

I seriously don't see them landing Simpson at this point.

Especially since the only recruiting success Illinois has had the last couple years is landing several other tall, skinny, forwards similar to Stan Simpson.
If Simpson did go to Illinois, his first year he would have to contend with Bill Cole, Mike Tisdale, Mike Davis, and Richard Semrau, all of whom will just be sophomores (unless any of them redshirts this year), Brian Carlwell and CJ Jackson who will be a juniors, and Rodney Alexander who will be a senior. It would be tough for him to see any playing time his first couple years with all those similar players ahead of him.

Article from Arkansas Scout site that says Stan Simpson is visiting Arkansas Sept. 21-23. They report that he has narrowed his choices to Bradley, Arkansas, and Illinois. He has already dropped Indiana, Minnesota, Virginia, and Kentucky. He says he has visited Bradley and Illinois already and may make his choice after the visit to Arkansas.

According to someone who knows, Stan Simpson was a no-show at Illinois' Midnight Madness. He had visited the Illinois campus last weekend, and had accepted an invitation to return this weekend for the MM activities. Nobody knows why he didn't come, but the story he gave was he couldn't get a ride.
