Former DePaul head coach Joey Meyer has passed away at the age of 74. Joey played at DePaul, graduating in 1971, then became an assistant coach under his father Ray Meyer from 1974-1984, then took over as head coach for 13 seasons (1984-1997). DePaul had winning seasons in the first 11 years Joey was head coach, and he lead them to the NCAA Tournament in 7 of his first 8 seasons, including a pair of Sweet 16's..

Former Bradley head coach Jim Molinari was an assistant under both Ray Meyer and Joey Meyer at DePaul before getting hired by Northern Illinois as their head coach in 1989. Jim remained good friends with Joey after leaving DePaul.
