  • Trivia Contest for a slow day

It's a slow news day, so here's a trivia contest....just for fun, and the chance to win a PRIZE (cash-gift certificate for local restaurant!)

The December 13, 1978 game program...the game was between ?? and BU in the Fieldhouse.

The official game program cover featured #12 on BU's roster shooting a jump shot.

    The question................
--who is on the cover, Bradley's #12 (and for extra special bonus kudos, also try to get the name of BU player #44 whose back is turned in the photo)
--what was the outcome of the game, and who did BU play
--and............if you get part 3, this answer will win a PRIZE!!!
Very prominently displayed on page 6 of the program is an ad for a local Peoria
DISCO...yes...this was the era of Disco music and nightclubs.
The ad shows BU head coach Dick Versace right smack dab in the middle of the
DISCO dance floor with three lovely ladies in somewhat "cheesecake" poses surrounding Dick.
NAME the Disco that sponsored the ad, they were at 625 Main St. in Peoria
(in what is now known as "SOP's")
    and they billed themselves as
    "Peoria's Exclusive Disco
    IT'S THE BEST"
(and Dick looks like he was having a little fun!)

PS--Dan Ruffin (senior, although at this time he wasn't called "Sr." since there wasn't a junior yet) was on this team and is pictured in this guide.

My guess, totally off the top of the head
-Tom Les (Dan Secli in background)
-BU wins 100-75 over Illinois Wesleyan
-Big Al's Disco? (before he went bad)

This is my college era, so I better get some of these questions right!

#12 would be "Jumpin'" Jimmy Carruthers, and #44 would be Seymour Reed.

Not sure who BU played or the outcome of the game.

The only disco I can remember from that era was the Poison Apple, but I don't remember it ever being downtown. Obviously, I never went there.....

I'll post the answers by about 5PM, so if anyone wants to guess, do it now.
So far only ONE part has been correctly guessed......the guy with back turned in the pic, #44 IS Harold McMath.

This was December of 1978....that's the 1978-79 season, and Humbles, Carruthers, and Reed were
          all long graduated.
And it's not O&B's favorite hangout, the Poison Apple!
I suspect this place was not there long, as Disco died out shortly after the ill-fated "Disco Demolition Night"
at Comiskey Park in 1979 (7/12/79)

12 then would that be Carl Maniscalco?

Nice job.... #12 in 1978-79 was Carl Maniscalco.
I thought for sure my avatar picture would give someone the thought.
the rest of the answers to my trivia questions were........

--Carl Maniscalco (#12) with Harold McMath in the foreground (#44)
              --BU beat Loyola-Chicago 77-72
--Dick Versace is on the dance floor with three "Disco Babes" in an ad for
              3 Worlds Disco

Just in case Dick decides he might want to run for LaHood's congressional seat, I'll save the pic, as he may want to use it in some of his election brochures!

              Thanks.......
