Well we found another way to win. Not the prettiest game, but our defense pulled us through. Yesterday’s officiating might have meant a lose, but this crew was much better I thought and didn’t call a foul every time there was contact. I’m still not overly impressed with UTEP.

Christian Davis is just a winning player as they say. Four big pressure free throws and he hit them all. Nice to see Hick hit a couple big ones too. Leons took over a little at the end tonight too, which is something I wondered if he had last year. What was the last early season tournament we won? Wasn’t it the first year we won arch madness? Cancun I think the 18-19 year.

Hickman the leading scorer with 16 points
Leons with 13 pts and 6 reb
Hannah with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals
Davis with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 4-4 on FTs in the final minute
Jonovic with a career-high 8 points
Burch & Atlason both contributed big time
Duke's numbers weren't great, but he was a big part of this win handling UTEP's defense

That half was like getting a root canal with a kid screaming in the back ground while he scrapes his fingernails on a blackboard. My goodness that offense was really bruttle but our defense kept us in it and UTEP never took the lead in the 2nd half. Once again we found a way to win. 5-0 is sweet. 6-0 would be even sweeter.

This game overall was kind of ugly, but at least Jonovic looked like he was finally starting to figure things out.

This could have easily been a loss, but nice to be 5-0. Keep it rolling.

Just before going off the air, I thought I heard Dave say Malevy Leons was the Tournament MVP, but there is no official announcement that I can find.
But because there is still another game being played now between Cal and Tulane, the All Tournament team probably won't be announced until much later.
I will predict Leons and Hickman All-Tournament.
