In an open charity exhibition, Arkansas beat Purdue 81-77 in overtime

We get the very first look at SIU's Lance Jones who hit the portal last spring and bolted from SIU to Purdue.
    Lance started at PG, played 26 1/2 minutes, went 2-11 and 1-5 from 3-pt, 9 pts, just 1 rebound, 2 asst & 2 turnovers

Bradley ended up losing the scrimmage with Missouri, though BU stayed in contention.
From what I am hearing, Bradley reserves got significant minutes, especially late. In a real game, the coaches probably would play it differently.
It sounds like it was good experience for the Braves.
No stats are available at this time.

The top 6 - with the exception of Duke - didn’t play the last 8 minutes is what I heard.

That is correct Bengal Fan. Coach Wardle elected not to play his top guys too many minutes, and pulled them midway through the 2nd half.
Coach Gates of Missouri stayed with his starters most of the way from there.

That is how Coach Wardle manages scrimmages, utilizing the opportunity to see all his players, especially the new ones & how they play vs top defenses. Last year, players like Max Ekono & Pops got lots of court time even though Bradley lost a close scrimmage, yet they still ended up with the best record in the MVC

That’s what a scrimmage is for…who cares about winning a game no one sees? Now the upcoming exhibition? That’s different.

That’s encouraging that we played well against a top 40 type of team with our starters.

I like the way coach runs his secret scrimmages. The idea isn't to win but to see how your top players react to each other, what combinations play together, and give the new players the opportunity to get some experience against another team.

anyone know the truth behind why he left Illinois?
Now 3 years later, he will have only played in only one of those 3 seasons, going just 2-16 in conference play and playing in zero post-season games.
Meanwhile, Illinois is in their 3rd consecutive successful season and has gone to NCAA Tourney each of the past two & will likely go again this year.

There was a lot of talk online about it why he left and supposedly his mom/family had something to do with it (also the reason he left Peoria for Morgan Park). I think they didn't like him playing in the "shadow" of someone else, first Ayo withdrew from the draft and stayed at Illinois Miller's freshman year, then Curbelo was really hyped after the end of the season. You see it all the time in sports, parents think their kid is better than what they really are and want them to be the "star".

He could have had a great career at Illinois on some good teams had he stuck around, but that is just the way it goes.
