Summer trips

The last Bradley summer trip was in late July-early August of 2018, prior to the 2018-19 season. It included games in London and Amsterdam.

The prior summer trip for Bradley was August, 2013, when they played 4 games in Nassau in the Bahamas.

The NCAA rules allow a program to take a preseason summer trip once every 4 years. It has been 5 years since the last trip in 2018, thus Bradley is eligible to take another preseason trip this summer. But there has been no announcement regarding a summer trip, so it likely isn't happening this summer.

The 4 MVC teams taking summer tours-
Drake is taking a summer tour of Spain, July 29-August 7
UIC is taking a tour to Spain August 7-August 15
Belmont also touring Spain, August 10-August 20
UNI is touring Brazil July 25-August 3

I don't think things are that dire. Heck, Bradley just bought the Avantis property a few months ago.

He may be referring to the men's basketball program revenues, which are down significantly compared with a decade ago, though I don't believe the overall budget has changed much. And, I don't know how much that affects decisions regarding foreign trips. Even Division 2 and D3 programs take foreign trips, as do women's programs, and those programs' budgets and revenues pale in comparison to D1 schools. Sometimes, all that's needed is a generous donor or two to fund such a trip. I think if the coaches felt that a foreign trip would be a good thing, it would happen.

Btw, the Bradley women travelled to Portugal on a preseason tour in August, 2019.

I would like Bradley to return to Hawaii to play in a post Christmas tournament. Our family went when Versace and Les were coaches. The only thing bad about Hawaii is that the refs control the “fix”, in order that the seeded teams win. If that’s not possible, it would be good to return to Las Vegas.

This would be an ideal time for the team to go on a summer tour. They could mesh the new guys with the old and get a jump start on the season

Vegas is always a nice destination for a tournament. :)
Hawaii would be nice, too, but I'm hearing it will be on the mainland.

These trips are usually planned between 12 & 18 months out. As was alluded to, generally, it's a $100,000 fundraising effort.

One of their coaching staff tweeted "#UNIHoops wins game 2!!!"
Strange how little info there is..

he also tweeted after their 1st game "buzzer beaters" - so it must have been close, but still no confirmation elsewhere

The final score was Sorocaba 58 - UNI 57- https://www.instagram.com/p/CvLomiONor2/

so they lost a close game Wednesday in what looks like a full stadium & raucous crowd, then won a 2 pt victory today.
Would still love to see some stats.
The five players they had on the court at the buzzer were Tytan Anderson, Duax, Heise, Wolf & Campbell.... all expected
to be among the top six players (with Bowen Born, who appears to be on the bench) - so they must have been playing pretty deep with their key players despite it being an exhibition game.

There's just a little more video here- https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvLaO49JPrT/
(also seen on the floor were freshmen Kyle Pock & RJ Taylor)

Nebraska wins their first game in Madrid, Spain 89-84 (OT), without Rienk Mast, in a game that was tied 82-82 in regulation - they play again Wednesday
https://twitter.com/HuskerHoops/stat...97575387021312

(as a side note, one of Rienk's Nebraska teammates, high profile iowa transfer Ahron Ulis, might be caught up in a NCAA
investigation of a gambling scandal and is currently not playing on their overseas trip- https://www.thegazette.com/iowa-haw...caa-has-not-taken-similar-violations-lightly/ )

meanwhile Rienk's Netherlands National Team played two friendly games vs. Poland over the weekend,
with Rienk carrying his team. He had 26 pts in yesterday's game (a 101-100 loss)and went 6-10 in the two games combined
Saturday's game was a 94-90 win, but Rienk was not among the top scorers.

Here are some photos showing Rienk-

One last thing- the hometown team that Rienk hopes to play for Donar Gronigen, is in the news...
just filed for bankruptcy - https://www.paudal.com/2023/07/31/ba...-sports-other/

Finland, without Ville loses a close exhibition against Czech 68-66 (their best players Markkanen, Jantunen, etc are not with them in these games)

Memphis just got clobbered in their first game in Dominican Republic. Fell behind by 23 early but battled back to within 14 at half.
But The Dominican team is pretty good and coasted to a 7-pt win. Evansville transfer DeAndre Williams, arguably Memphis' best player,
did not play as he is still waiting for an eligibility ruling for 2023-24.

Kansas is live streaming their exhibition game in Puerto Rico - live right now
Kansas is already up 35-18, the Puerto Rican team is really small.
Because they are Kansas and all the media drools over them, you likely will hear & see a lot of reports, Tweets and highlights
https://kuathletics.com/watch-live-k...o-select-team/

also, Nebraska without Rienk win their 2nd game in Spain.

(as a side note, one of Rienk's Nebraska teammates, high profile iowa transfer Ahron Ulis, might be caught up in an NCAAinvestigation of a gambling scandal and is currently not playing on their overseas trip
and as expected Ulis is charged in a criminal complaint - not just for betting on games, he will face NCAA scrutiny for that and likely be declared ineligible -- but these are criminal charges for falsifying his identity and using his older brother's ID to place bets -
$35,000 worth of bets on almost 2,000 different sporting events, many of which he was also under 21 y/o, the legal age he would have to be to place bets in Iowa - https://247sports.com/college/nebras...on--213555057/

University of Illinois wins their first exhibition game in Spain vs Madrid All Stars 84-73....
(this is the same opponent Nebraska needed overtime to beat)

Dain Dainja with 16 pts, 15 reb
SIU transfer Marcus Domask did not play

UConn beat an apparently bad French opponent by 66 points, 132-66

Kansas loses an exhibition in the Bahamas 87-81

LSU came from behind in the final minute to beat a Puerto Rican exhibition opponent 86-82,
no mention if Adam Miller played, he is not mentioned in any report of the game
