  • 2023-24 Bradley roster-- roster change-> Trey Pettigrew gone

The Bradley website has posted the 2023-24 roster-

It has all the new players on it, with their numbers-
#0 - Freshman guard Demarion Burch
#1 - Freshman forward Almar Atlason
#2 - Redshirt guard Sophomore Emarion Ellis
#3 - Sophomore guard Trey Pettigrew
#24 - Sophomore forward Kyle Thomas

It also has the returning players, including walk-ons Cade Hardtke and Sam Hennessy, but one player is missing. Walk-on redshirt-freshman Sulaiman Agiste is no longer listed as part of the team.
There are also a few other signs that Agiste is no longer part of the team. If so, Good luck to Sulaiman!

Biliew is NOT 6'8, he looks slightly shorter than Davis who's listed as 6'7. I'm guessing he's actually only 6'6 1/2.

I'm hearing from a couple sources that there is a chance the current roster might not be the final roster once the fall semester begins.

Recall that summer "departures" have happened before. Most recent was the summer of 2019 with Jamir Price leaving, and prior to that was Chudier Bile, leaving in the summer of 2018.

Well if it's one of the 11 that will have a good shot at being in the rotation, that isn't great. I can't imagine it is Linke who seems intent on getting his degree at Bradley (good for him), and I would have thought Biliew would have left already if he was going to. Hopefully nothing too impactful to our depth this year....

Goanar Biliew has improved and I hear has played well in practices and scrimmages this summer. I think we'll see more of him this season.

Hearing from a second source that the team has one less player. Not one of the projected starters or top couple reserves.
Because he still appears on the Team roster Page, I will await further confirmation.

As I noted back in August, there has been a problem for a long time.

In case anyone was not able to catch my clues (note capitals- "Team roster Page" and different fonts-"the projected starters"), I have now heard from 3 sources that Trey Pettigrew has left the team.

Was he not happy with playing time or other reasons?

As I said above, I have heard it is multiple issues that go back to the summer. To sum it up politely, he and the coaches were not on the same page, and I believe he chose to leave.

When your doctor diagnoses you with cancer, you want to make sure you get it treated as soon as possible. No need for it to metastasize. Sometimes surgery to remove it is the best bet.

OK, what do fans think Bradley Head Coach Wardle should do with the open scholarship, and the lack of depth at the point guard position?
                            A) Make do with the players currently on the roster, and save the scholarship for an extra 2024 recruit
                            B) Try to scour Europe for a decent point guard who is interested in enrolling at a US University. A new recruit this late would not be eligible to enroll until 2nd semester, and he would be eligible for 4 years. This would be similar to Ahmet Jonović.
                            C) Hold the scholarship open and wait until a point guard becomes available in the 2024 transfer portal. There are currently only a few entrants in the 2024 portal, and none are labelled as point guards.
                            D) Look at junior college players who are D1 eligible and get him to transfer and enroll at Bradley
                            E) Scour the last year's (2023) transfer portal for a guard with PG skills who is still available, one with D1 experience and preferably with just one year of eligibility left, so the scholarship would be available again for 2024. There appear to be dozens of such players still available with remaining eligibility, many because they have the extra Covid year. They would be eligible to enroll and play the 2nd semester.
However, the PGs left on the 2023 portal list have not signed anywhere obvious reason- not D1 caliber, not a good fit, other off-court issues, not eligible for immediate eligibility, etc.

All the above. What ever option works out best for the team
