But since Bradley only needs a backup PG for depth, I would favor going after someone with just one year of eligibility, so it makes it easier to move on and reuse the scholarship in a few months....e.g. portal or juco qualifier.

I just hate the fact we bring in a transfer and he lasts only a few months. You only bring in someone that is good enough to contribute this season or leave the scholarship open. We seem to lose these transfers way too much for whatever reasons. The coaches must be too tough on some of these weak minded players. This will give more time to the other players that tough it out.

Without going through every suggestion point by point: I don’t think Europe is where you look for PGs - there are plenty in the US. Europe is skilled bigs territory. I think you look for a mid-year transfer who can develop, JUCO or otherwise. There aren’t any plug and play kids. Very few play right away in Bradley’s program - so we have to be content with who we have. Someone else will have to recognize an opportunity and step up.

Without knowing much about that kid, I just had a bad feeling the day we got Pettigrew...no reason - just a bad vibe.
Maybe it was the partly the way he looked where you just get a 1st impression and it tends to stick with ya til you get to know someone.
Well, let's get focused for tonight - hopefully this will allow more PT for our promising freshmen!

There are probably other coaching staffs where things would have been different. Perhaps he should check out Stony Brook.

As I posted almost 3 months ago, this has been an ongoing problem since the summer. Without going into specifics, he just clashed with the coaching staff on many levels, and more recently it has been affecting team chemistry and some of the other players. I'm sure he's basically a good kid, but it was not going to work out here with a disciplined program. It happens at a lot of schools. I've heard there were similar issues at Nevada.

Wardle wants to develop guys who put in the effort and play to his expectations. He has a specific type of basketball he wants you to play. Some guys just might not fit into that mold. It is disappointing things didn't work out as Pettigrew loses some of his time and Bradley loses a guard.

I love everything I see of Burch and Atlason, and love their potential, but the transfers have left a lot to be desired. I was not a fan of the fit of them all at the time. I stated my concern about roster construction and it’s come to fruition already.
Ellis has dealt with a lot injury wise, so we will see in time, but we really needed a wing scorer. I’ll be patient here.
Pettigrew seemed like a combo guard that was only a combo guard because he wasn’t a great ball handler or shooter.
Thomas is fine as a backup big, but I don’t love the early rule violation or that we already had many bigs on the roster.
We really needed another point and a wing that could score and we got neither and still have 7-8 scholarships tied up in non-guard players (depending on if you classify Davis as a guard, I’d say more small forward). I knew that would be an issue and it’s already come up. Hopefully no injuries to our four remaining guards or we’re in real trouble against guard heavy teams and in Valley play.

Maybe one of the NIL guys can clarify, but I think most of the NIL money is spread out over the season, so if a player leaves, it just gets cut off. I'm not sure how easy it would be to recover money that has already been given out.
