Sorry, but going from the best team in the valley to maybe the worst team in the big ten doesn’t seem to me to even be a lateral move, but a step back. Must be the money, but hard to even see that.

I don’t know Reink, but I’m pretty confident he is no dummy. He’s smart enough to know that his chance of going to the NCAA tournament at were better at Bradley. He obviously went there for other reasons and I’m guessing he spoke to his parents about his decision. I believe he will play professionally in Europe and make a good living.

Really not a bad decision for Rienk. Sure Nebraska basketball has been bad for quite some time, but he will likely get a good amount of playing time against some of the best big men in the country being in the Big 10.
He was telling the truth when he said he just wants to play against better competition.

Nebraska hasn’t made the tourney since 2014 while the Braves went back in 2019 and should have went during Covid year 2020.

I think a lot of us fans didn't really realize what Rienk's motivation was. It appears to be preparation for his pro career in Europe. In this case, there are plenty of reasons why Nebraska makes sense. He can get more NLI which helps now, and he should be guaranteed substantial playing time against high caliber opponents.
I think Rienk's goals are different from most kids in college bb today, so it wouldn't make sense for most players, but for Rienk it does. I wish him the best.Thinking is the hardest work, that is why so few people do it. -Henry Ford

Rienk Mast "has been invited to join the Netherlands Senior National Team and will participate in the FIBA Olympic Pre Qualifier Tournament this summer."
The teams that qualify for the 2024 Olympics are decided as follows:
"..qualification for the Olympic Games is through the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
(the 2023 FIBA World Cup is this fall and the six of the top teams plus the host team, France, all will qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
But The Netherlands did not qualify for the World Cup, so they would need to succeed in one of the other ways below)
"The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will produce seven directly qualified national teams for the Olympic Games, with hosts* France receiving automatic qualification to the event. The seven spots will include two teams from Americas, two teams from Europe, one team from Africa, one team from Asia and one team from Oceania. The four remaining places in the 12-team Olympic field are reserved for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024, with two rounds of Qualifying Tournaments for Paris 2024. The first round, the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments, will be played ..in August 2023 and provides 40 countries that did not make it to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 hope of still reaching the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. ...five teams ...go through to the second round ...Qualifying Tournaments 2024. The Olympic Games will take place in Paris in 2024 from July 26 to August 11."
Netherlands will need to get into the Olympic field by these FIBA qualifying tourneys.

Could this news impact Rienk Mast's playing time at Nebraska? Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg just landed a 6'9" big man who is eligible to play this coming season (2023-24).
Rienk and his Nebraska teammate head to Spain later this week. The team will visit Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona on the trip and play once in each city against local teams. NU will play in Madrid on July 30th, Valencia on Aug. 2 and Barcelona on Aug. 5.

I would think the same Olympic qualifying tournaments that Luuk and Almar are playing in
I would love to see a matchup of Iceland vs Netherlands

Comes as no surprise, Rienk Mast, now with Nebraska, getting no respect at all.
Big10 preseason poll is out, Illini are 4th, Nebraska at 12th
-Rienk Mast no votes for any preseason team, not the 10-man All Big Ten 1st Team or 2nd Team
and surprisingly...not on the Big Ten All-Transfer team!
Those 5 spots went to: Ace Baldwin, Olivier Nkamhoua, Jamison Battle, Kel’el Ware, AJ Storr (the release notes that only 5 players got any votes)
Valpo's Ben Krikke got a vote All-Big Ten team, but we coulda told ya, there's never been much respect for Nebraska basketball.
