Zek enters the portal

Seems like Zek jumped the gun on entering the transfer portal if he truly is chasing NIL money.
He has been on an upward trajectory and I think he has a high ceiling, but he still has a lot of room for improvement. Had he chosen to stay another year and improved his game I think he could have gained a lot more attention in the portal. Power conference schools won't just pick up anyone from the portal, they want proven success. I think Zek has the potential to be a really good player, but just hasn't gotten there yet.
I guess the portal works both ways, maybe we will find someone fairly equal to replace him from the portal?

In theory he could if Wardle would have him back, but I am pretty sure Wardle said that any player who enters the portal won't be coming back. Which is probably the best policy to have. You don't want your players entering the portal every year "just to see" what else is out there.

Rhode Island finished next to last in the A-10 (9-22, 5-13). Only Loyola was worse.

Wish Zek good luck. He's a good guy.
URI is a good school, and it's a beautiful campus.

This looks from the outside like a huge mistake. He leaves a team on the brink of the NCAA tournament, and the possibility of a starring role. To at best a starring role on a bad team. Probably got out there and realized the grass really wasn't greener, and the door had already locked behind him.

Rhode Island men’s basketball assistant coach Kenny Johnson was given a two-year limited show-cause that will prohibit him from recruiting at permissible live activity events in the spring and summer evaluation periods, it was announced Thursday. Following a five-year investigation into allegations of recruiting violations against the University of Louisville and several other programs, the Independent Accountability Resolution Process released...
