Exactly. I will never blame a young man for taking an opportunity to make more money or make a decision he thinks is bettering himself. I can try and figure out if it was actually a good decision or not, but acting like a young man shouldn't be able to better himself in this way really grinds my gears. Does it suck for college basketball? Yeah, definitely.

I totally agree, however, if I were advising the player, I would tell him you need to get some guarantees at minimum on money if not on playing time because the NCAA may stiffen up on the second transfer. Especially since a lot of the P5 are complaining now too. Otherwise Zek for instance could transfer and end up being stuck on a bench with no money at a B10 school.

          Schools Zek has heard from

          South Carolina
          Tulane
          Rhode Island
          Western Kentucky
          Northern Kentucky
          Eastern Kentucky
          Jacksonville
          Youngstown State
          Denver

Only South Carolina appears to be a step up, IMO.

Unless he just really wants to be slightly closer to home, I can’t imagine that’s the list he had in mind, and that’s just who he’s heard from, not offers. So he might not have a single power team offer and even if he does it was a team that finished 11-21. I guess he could be the man on a lower team like we talk about with power guys coming here, but I doubt that was his intention.

Not exactly a great list of basketball schools. I doubt most of them give as much in NIL money to him like he got here. S.Carolina could but then again I would expect them to wait and see which other players have an interest in playing there.

I guess there's still a lot that could happen in the portal...but that list does not look to have much upside in terms of success or NIL deals. I think Zek had a really bright future waiting for him here.

Caution! If you're zeeking to transfer, make sure that the grass is really greener on the other side of the fence.

Agree completely. Do those Kentucky schools even off NIL money and how much? Maybe he really did want to play closer to home.
Who knows what goes through, or who gets into, these kids heads. Maybe it really was to play closer to home where family can see him play more.

My gut instinct tells me that Zek wanted to be the highest paid NIL player on Bradley, or get at least as much as Leons, and he threatened Bradley with entering the transfer portal unless his demands were met. Bradley called his bluff and Zek had no choice but to enter the portal with no known offers. And now he's just hoping to land somewhere and start over. That's just a hunch and was most likely perpetrated by Zek's "handlers", not actually Zek. I wish him well though and hope he can continue building on his success.

                          The "handlers" part is correct.
Unfortunately, there is way too much of that these days. It drives coaches crazy.

The same blogger is now reporting that Murray State and Belmont are also involved, and are a few others I have heard.

It would be extremely frustrating if he ended up back in the conference.

How much or how good is their NIL?

I have had kids in another sport and although not legal as their “club” coach we always ensured interest prior to them entering the portal. Club coaches have conversations all the time with D1 coaches that don’t talk about a specific kid, but both sides know exactly what athlete they are talking about. I find it hard to believe that most kids don’t know their options before going in the portal. If they don’t they should not be trusting their advisors.
