They may have received an invite but if this tournament is the same as it was awhile back when BU played in it, it was "pay to play".

Yeah an SIU poster elsewhere said he was glad they declined an invite. He offered no source to corroborate them actually receiving one, but put it out there.

            Yes, it is definitely pay-for-play.

I was told it was $50,000 per home game when Bradley hosted games against Cincinnati, Ohio U, and Tulsa back in 2008.
Bradley drew 5,114 for Cincinnati, 6,425 for Ohio, and 9,014 against Tulsa in the 2008 CBI. I heard they barely broke even, mainly because unlike teams that play in campus-owned arenas, the deal at the Civic Center doesn't allow them to profit off parking, concessions, etc. That may be one reason why it is not likely Bradley will play in the CBI again.

Greetings, ISU fan here with some correct info on the CBI. All of the games are now played on-site in Daytona and the fee is $25,700. There is also NIL money awarded - $25,000 for the first place school and a lesser amount for second place. Drake played in it last year and DeVries told ISU Coach Schertz that it was a rewarding opportunity. Part of the reason for the invite was that ISU had the third highest NET ranking in the Valley.

Happened to hear an interview Radio broadcaster Mike Reis had with HC Brian Mullins. Mullins indicated that SIU did receive an invite, but after discussions decided to decline.

Thanks for the info. So now that the games are played at a single neutral site, apparently the fee is the same for all teams.
That sounds a bit more appealing to most mid-majors, with little or no risk.

It is interesting that we did not want an opportunity to play in one of these “lesser” tournaments last year. Brian talked about how we looked like a team that had little big game/post season experience at the end this year, which makes you wonder if doing a tournament like this last year would have helped. It seems like he wants to set the program expectations as the two big tournaments or bust and start recruiting, but I know it was a debate if we should do one of these or not last year. I always think why not get the experience, and I wonder if it would have made any difference for this year or not. Maybe it does nothing, but I don’t think it hurts. It will be interesting to see Indiana St. next year in big games (assuming some players stay).

Also it’s not like it gave us some big recruiting advantage ending early as last year’s class was not great this year outside of Deen being pretty decent (but not great) and Davis showing potential in the little bit he played. Pop and Biliew were pretty much busts in year one.

I have always felt get as much experience as you can.. It only benefits the players

The CBI schedules it's first round games simultaneous with the NCAA 2nd round. That's got to hurt any media exposure they might have hoped for.
The games are all being played at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
And all games are only available on FloHoops, a subscription-only, streaming platform.

Indiana State pulled out to a 12 point lead over University of South Carolina Upstate with about 8 minutes left, then USCU cut it to 3 points with 3 minutes left. But INSU held on for a 67-62 win. Looks like INSU shot the ball well, but had 15 turnovers that kept USCU in the game.
