Drake with a total collapse and Miami wins 63-56.
Drake went up by 8 points, 55-47, at the 5:40 mark, and scored only 1 point the rest of the game. Miami outscored Drake 16-1 over those final 5:40.
Tucker DeVries was 1-13 for the game and really hurt Drake, Sturtz was a non-factor (2 points, 1 rebound) and D.J. Wilkins contributed very little.

Drake appeared totally unprepared for Miami's pressure defense, and it caused numerous turnovers, poor shots, and a shot clock violation.
Unfortunately, not a good look for the MVC or for Drake.

Miami outscored Drake 16-1 in the last 5:47 of the game to win 63-56. Miami turned up the pressure on defense with a full court press and surprisingly the Bulldogs blinked, turning the ball over in the back court a couple of times and Miami turned those turnovers into points. In Drake's last 12 possessions they missed 7 shots, made 1 FT and made 4 of the 12 turnovers. DeVries had his worst game of his Drake career as he was just 1-13 overall, 1-11 from 3. Penn also struggled from the field as he was 4-13 overall, 0-2 from3, and had 4 turnovers. Miami only shot 17-56 overall, 6-18 from 3, but they out Draked Drake from the FT line as they were 23-29, including making 10 of their last 12 while Drake was just 5-8. Will be curious to see what happens to DeVries and his Dad next season. Do they stay and be a big fish in a small pond or move up to a struggling Big 5 program?

I'm surprised only 3 of the 7 Big Ten teams got knocked out in the first round. I expected more would fall, and certainly didn't think Purdue would be one of them. Indiana is the only Big Ten team I root for (born there) so glad they moved on.
