  • CBSSports.com sportswriter lists the Top 10 Impact Players in the transfer portal, and Rienk Mast is #6-

Not sure I'd rank him quite that high, but it is good publicity for Rienk. Probably gets a few dozen more schools calling.

    • I know they are likely to go to a bigger program but #9 or #10 on the list sound like they would be good here.

Just that also. The same thing I said in an earlier post is what this guy said, Mast will be a wing not a center.

He's not athletic nor a good enough shooter from 3 to play wing at the P5 level.

          • First thank you Rienk. Your contributions on the Hilltop won't soon be forgotten. It's hard to turn down the bright lights of the Power 5. I wish Rienk nothing but success. I hope Rienk gets what he's looking for.

I haven't seen the speed or ball handling ability from Reink to believe he would be the type of 6-9 forward that would thrive in a P5 program. Not saying he can't do it, just that I haven't seen it. He does have great footwork in the post so that could translate to the perimeter with some development.

              • He won't be a primary shooter but a secondary shooter.
He's not big enough to play the 5 in a power conference

                  • I think Reink COULD do all of those things, but I think he'd be better served to stay at Bradley and work on those things IF Bradley was willing to let him. With Meta possibly playing more next year, Maybe that would allow Reink to play out on the perimeter a bit more and develope those skills. I'm just afraid if he goes to a power 5 and isn't ready for that change he gets buried on the bench...they aren't looking to develop anybody...they are looking for instant production.

To me, it is clear Rienk wishes to play against better competition. It is a challenge most athletes want. Game in game out, he can get that by going to a Power 5 conference. As for his skill set, his footwork is superb, he has a very good shot and his hook shot is the best I’ve seen in a long time. While he would be playing against better players in a Power 5 program, he would more than likely be surrounded by better players on his own team. This would also improve his game.

I can see the attraction to not being the player that is expected to carry a team. When Rienk goes pro he wouldn't be expected to do that either most likely. This can take the pressure off him, open up his game more, and make it more fun for him possibly. Combined with more exposure at a P5 team, NIL compensation, etc. there isn't much of a downside if he is ok not playing for Wardle and with his current teammates at BU.

                        • Not sure if he will get enough playing time to improve. There was a player, named Jack Sikma, who played 4 years at Illinois Wesleyan, who was an all star center in the NBA. He had a great career. Pro scouts will usually find the talent, even at small schools, if you are capable to play in the NBA.

Just depends on the situation..I think Isaih mosely might have killed his career by transferring..you never know...it's the risk you take by starting over. With Reink, who knows what it is he wants....I just think the chances of his growth being stunted is greater by going to a power 5. I mean if he were to stay at BU, he knows hes going to be the man, and has a chance to continue getting better. Like I said, maybe he wants to play in the tourney, and again, going to ANY power 5 school who just plays .500 ball seems to be enough for that. If its $$, then we are not likely going to be able to compete, maybe we can, IDK what the HOTB NIL is offering these guys.

We will def see next season if he transfers. I think a lot of people didn't pay attention what he did against longer, more athletic or stronger players.
