“From what I hear, Home of the brave hasn’t offered any NIL money for next year. So I think he was leaving regardless of what he was offered. “
This is absolutely not true, Reink had his meeting and got an offer. That’s all I will say on the issue.

I’m disappointed that Rienk has chosen to go to another school. The landscape of D1 basketball has changed. An athlete now has an opportunity to do what ADs, head coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, strength/conditioning coaches and an everyday student has had for years. That opportunity is to have the freedom to go to another school (one time) without being penalized and being forced to sit out for a year. From a self centered standpoint I wish he was forced to come back to BU and play basketball. I can honestly say, I don’t feel this way about a member of the band, baseball team, soccer team or someone that doesn’t know the ball is round but is majoring in engineering, when they choose to go to another school. I think our coaching staff has considered the chance of players leaving and would be disappointed if they hadn’t already began the analytical and recruiting process of reloading the program. I say good luck to Rienk and thanks for the memories.

It’s always going to be disappointing for me to find out my favorite players didn’t love playing at BU as much as I loved having them here, supporting them, and watching them play. I never want them to leave, so it hurts when they choose to do so.
The change toward being independent contractors does hurt my overall joy for following the sport. Until Rienk transfers, I’ll hold some hope he comes back.
I’ll always value loyalty when I find it.
Thanks for the memories!Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

I'm sure some on here have done the same thing with jobs.

I don't like the direction Div. 1 ball is heading with NIL and looser transfer rules in place. That being said as much as it pains me (all of us) to lose quality players, I can't blame them. If you were in their shoes would you pass up the opportunity? Terry reportedly snagged 6 figures to go to Georgia and quite possibly could turn that into an NBA opportunity. I'll continue to hate losing players...but I'm not going to blame them. Best of luck to Reink and in the off chance he decides to return to BU, I'll still be cheering for him.
Don't forget we have a big boy we stole away from other schools mid season who I really believe can have a great career at BU. And I trust that BW knows what he is up against and is prepared to reload the team with a mix of transfers and youngsters that fit the program best.

Rienk Mast update- now free to read (you might need to create an account, but it's free)
https://www.pjstar.com/story/sports/...l/70030181007/
Mast said that by 5 p.m. Monday, just a few hours after entering the portal, he had been contacted by 10 schools from Power 5 conferences. It's the nature of the college game now in the NIL era, which has essentially put players in a position to declare themselves free agents. Mid-major teams lose players in that trickle-up calculation. It's a hard reality.
"It's a lot. I'm looking for a Power 5 school. I've heard from 10 so far."
