4 MVC Tournament games Thursday, March 2 - scores

The final Thursday game wasn't too much different than the first 3. Missouri State pulled out to an early lead over UIC, but UIC came back and trailed by just 4 at halftime, 34-30. But Missouri State quickly reestablished a double digit lead again early in the 2nd half and UIC was never able to come closer than 9 points after that. As in the other Thursday night game, poor shooting by UIC doomed them. The Flames were just 5-22 (22.7%) from three.

In the earlier Thursday night game, Valparaiso was just 2-23 (8.7%) from three in their 78-50 loss to Murray State.

All of the losing teams yesterday shot poorly. ISU Red shot 42% and the other 3 teams shot under 40%. They were a combined 21-85 from 3. Might have been one of the worst days at a tournament that I’ve seen. I certainly hope that trend continues for at least one more game.. Just hope the boys are ready from the tip-off as UNI’s 3 main players all played well yesterday and they have no pressure on them as they aren’t expected to win. Have to come out from the get go and put the hammer down on defense and be strong with the ball, limit our turnovers and very our offense. Not much left to say except GET ER DONE BOYS!
