  • MVC All-Conference teams announced

The voting is in and the MVC is preparing to announce the MVC All-Conference teams Tuesday, Feb. 28.
The All-Bench and Most Improved teams have been announced on the Wednesday prior to the tournament in past years, and the Coach of the Year has been announced at a luncheon on the Thursday of tournament week. However, with the expansion of the tournament to include an early session starting at noon on Thursday, expect a change in the timing of these announcements.

    Predictions-
    Rienk Mast- 1st team All-MVC
    Malevy Leons- 2nd team All-MVC
Connor Hickman and Duke Den- Honorable Mention
Defensive Player of the Year- Malevy Leon
Coach of the Year- Brian Wardle
    Duke Deen- All-Newcomer team
    Zek Montgomery- Most-Improved team
    Ja'Shon Henry- All-Bench team

Not sure I can disagree with anything here, DC!

But, I'm gonna BOLD the ones I think are nearly LOCKS.
I think Duke gets some kind of award - just not sure which.

I know he won't be considered for this, but I think Darius Hannah is one of the 3 most improved players on BU. His contributions were big and he worked his butt off in the offseason to get more minutes, didn't whine when he didn't get PT last year, and didn't transfer as most young guys would in his shoes.
    Kudos to DH!

And I believe Zek will be Defensive POY in the next couple seasons. His defense is tremendous - not to mention his athleticism on the offensive end.

Now, let's get some hardware Braves!

ST. LOUIS -- Senior Ja'Shon Henry of Bradley and sophomore Tytan Anderson of UNI headline the list of selections for the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference specialty teams for men’s basketball.  Henry has been tabbed the conference’s Team Captain for the All-Bench Team, while Anderson is the league’s Team Captain for the Most-Improved Team.

If they had an all defense team I would vote for Conner. He's been amazing all year, and really sealed it for me when he shut down Born in Cedar Falls.

Finally some Braves getting some love on these post season awards! There better be more coming and Rienk better be the MVP!

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Have to agree on Connor. He came on strong and really has the confidence to dominate in this league I think.

                  Specialty Awards-
                  https://mvc-sports.com/news/2023/2/2...ved-teams.aspx

                  Full teams-

Can't argue with Tytan Anderson as captain of the Most Improved team. He started only 2 games in his first 2 years at UNI, and last year he played only 8 minutes per game, and averaged 1.7 ppg and 2.0 rpg. This year he lead the MVC in rebounding (8.8 rpg), and he averaged 12.6 ppg.
But nice to finally see Bradley guys getting their due recognition.
Congratulations to Ja'Shon, Malevy, and Zek!

Congrats to all the winners. Darius Hannah is a most improved in my mind. Watching him last year I was afraid he was just a dunker. He really looked good this year. So much better. Look forward to watching him 2 more years

Agreed. As far as BU, he is by far the most improved. He improved in every aspect of his game, most especially his free throw shooting. Do you remember last year how any free throw shot he took was a guaranteed miss? Now I think he’s one of the more reliable free throw shooters on the team. Just outstanding to see how he’s worked on his game to become an important piece of a championship team. Anxious to see the next steps he takes in improving for next year. He could be a force to reckon with. Offenses do not like going down low when Darius and Malevy are both in the game at the same time.

Still waiting for the All-MVC teams, Player of the Year, and other player awards, plus Coach of the Year.
                            These should be announced today.

                              Cool - thanks DC!
I've been on the edge of my seat all morning (while working).

I would be surprised if Drake soph. Tucker Devries doesn't get POY, but ya never know!
Could make an argument for Sheppard of Belmont, whose stats are a bit more impressive.
If he made closer to 80% of FTs (instead of 68%), he may have led the MVC in scoring.
