Sharing some of my ancient Bradley History. I am sooo looking forward to Sunday's Drake at Bradley game. This truly reminds me of my Junior year at Bradley. On March 2, 1974 Bradley played at home against Louisville for the Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship. Just before that 1974 game I ran into a much older Bradley fan (like in his 60s) and he stated the following to me - which has stuck with me all these years. "Come Game Time - You can take a knife and cut the electricity in the air " ( inside Robertson Memorial Stadium ). Funny how his statement has stuck with me all these years. All that I can say is that attending Bradley games inside Robertson Memorial Stadium was truly electric and incredible memories. Unfortunately Bradley lost that 1974 game to #20 Louisville 87 - 84. And so coming in second Bradley went on to play in the "New" 1974 Collegiate Commissioner Classic basketball tournament for all conferences second place teams. In that tournament Bradley defeated the 1973 National Champions - Kansas State 68 - 64 and lost in the second game to #15 Southern California in overtime 76 - 73. Hey Bradley Students and Fans - pack the stadium this Sunday and make it a RED OUT. You will be witnessing a game that you will remember the rest of your lives. GO BRAVES !!!
