Is it me or did it seem like MO St. didn't really want to win the game? Luckily for us they had no real intensity at the end of the game even though they got close. We didn't have much intensity either but it was enough to come away with the win. The rebounding reminded me of the ISU-R game. Lots of long and almost goofy bounces. I guess that happens when you miss a lot of 3s.

Yeah, the radio broadcast team were really down on the Braves, and talked as if they played terrible and didn't deserve to win. I will admit the offense got bogged down at times in the second half, but the overall play of Bradley was mostly good.

        Box score- https://missouristatebears.com/sport.../boxscore/6080
        Summary- https://missouristatebears.com/news/...t-bradley.aspx

Bradley was 27-61 for 44.3% overall, and they were 6-19 from three for 31.6%.- not the best shooting night, but not terrible.
They shot 17-29 (58.6%) in the first half and lead by 11 points at halftime (37-26).
36 points in the paint, 18 second chance points, and 12 points off 10 MSU turnovers
        Only 8 Bradley turnovers
Only 11 total personal fouls in the game
And the most important stats- Bradley lead the entire game; they never folded when Missouri State made a couple runs,
        Defense was terrific-
They held Missouri State to 20-60 for the game (33.3%) and 7-32 from three (21.9%)- including just 2016 from three in the 2nd half, which is what prevented MSU's comeback. Those are fantastic numbers.
Donovan Clay had 16 points, but he took 15 shots to get the 16 points.
Alston Mason had 14 points, but it took 16 shots!
None of their other players hurt Bradley.
Bradley had 6 blocks and 6 steals, and only allowed 18 points in the paint.
Bradley held Missouri State to just 54 points, and lead the game wire to wire.
A dominating defensive game, and a well-deserved win, IMO.

Good first half, not so great in the second. Seemed a little more lackadaisical. Overall good enough to get the win. The four post players carried us again. Zek and Connor did ok enough too. This one scared me a little, so glad to escape with the win.

Have to play better Sunday. Once again, biggest game of the year. Win that one and we should be in a battle for first the following Saturday as long as we don’t have a letdown at Valpo. I think we are better and certainly deeper than SIU, but we need to play our best game.

I forgot to add....that Simon Says guy at halftime was hilarious. Kudo to the person at Bradley who brought him.

When you look at the stats Bradley did not play so bad. Had you not known the score you would have guessed Bradley won by15 or 20

                Attendance was 4,791

And yeah, what's with the officials allowing Missouri State to defend consistently by using both hands on Rienk Mast Ja'Shon Henry, and any other BU player who drove to the basket or got into the lane? We've seen this in several recent games (SIU and Murray State).
There were only 3 personal fouls called the entire 2nd half on Missouri State, despite Bradley getting mugged at times.

Not too impressive with the attendance numbers for a 1st place team with a traditionally strong fan base! What gives??

Not really sharp tonight by the Braves. Intensity was lacking and nobody played particularly great.
Hickman didn’t score much, but did a good job on D and grabbed some big boards in the 2nd half.

Let’s sharpen things up for the next 2 toad games.
                  They are HUGE!

There did seem to be a discrepancy with what would be called against Clay and what wasn’t called against our bigs. Still, I’d take that officiating crew every single game as they for the most part let the kids play, especially in the first half. Nobody got into double bonus in either half and these days, that’s a rarity!
If the box score is right, only 20 pf’s for the whole game! I’ll always take that as I think the less involved the officials are, the better for BU, not to mention just a lot more fun to watch a game where the flow isn’t stopped every 30 seconds. No surprise we struggled more in the 2nd half when they started to blow the whistle more.
                    Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

I agree. Yes, there were some questionable calls, there always are. But seeing continuous flow makes for a better game. There were a couple long runs where the on court players looked like they were getting gassed. With our bench that works in our favor. We can sub in 3-4 fresh bodies that keep up the pace while the opponent subs in a couple bench warmers.

Good point but the sad part is they only won by 10. They had trouble holding onto rebounds. I will give MsSt credit as their players had very active hands. It seemed like JaShon and Connor wanted the ball more then our bigs did.
As coach said after the game not everyone was locked in for a full game. Some of the guys were not into the game either offensively or defensively.
We will need a better effort Sunday against SIU if we want to win.

Overall, I thought the officials (mostly the lady official) did a good job, especially during the first half. Unfortunately Ja'Shon seems to be a magnet for ticky-tack fouls. Let them play on both ends of the court!
Granted, the results were not as good as the previous game, but both teams did everything they could do to win the game. Missouri State could not match Bradley's defense and strong bench. Games that have a continuous flow are more fun to watch and as stated before, work in our favor.
We need to keep in mind this team now has 20 wins and is tied for first place!

Heard Coach on postgame saying he felt like he had to defend himself after the radio show this morning. Anybody know what that was about?

I was listening to the post game show on internet radio. A few minutes into the show, Coach Wardle wasn't happy with the way the Braves played. I’m paraphrasing now….He said any win was a good win in the league, but that the Braves didn't play well. Chad Klein made a comment to Coach Wardle about the way the team played in a particular stretch. I think it was related to expectations about consistent effort or focus?? Anyway, Coach Wardle perhaps took a slight offense to the comment. He made it very clear that he was a consistent coach and that is what players value. He said he was the same day in and day out on the bench or in the locker room.

Chad worried that he had slightly offended the coach, but I do not think it was intentional or malicious. Chad made mention of it at least 2 times after Coach Wardle left the show. He said he hoped he hadn't offended the coach or something to that effect. You could tell it bothered Chad a little bit because he said he didn't mean it the way it was taken more than once. I do not think the interview ended badly.
