  • Home of the Brave

We just launched our second way for you to get involved with Home of the Brave and support a great local charity.

Our pledge per campaign allows you to pledge a certain dollar (or cents) amount for each rebound or 3 point field goal made by Bradley players throughout the season.

If you go to www.hotbrave.com, you can click the donate now button and see the details.

Half of the money will go to the collective and half will go to Peoria Friendship House.

Friendship House's President and CEO is very familiar to all of you - Bradley legend and all around great guy Marcellus Sommerville. They do great things there and Marcellus has really taken their programs to the next level.

This along with our merchandise shop on our website with player specific gear are our first two ways for you to directly support Bradley basketball student athletes.

I agree, not only is Friendship House a great charity to support for the Peoria area, Marcellus chose to stay in the Peoria community and is a great ambassador for BU hoops. For the ISU game he bought a couple hundred tickets to send kids to the game. I encourage everyone to support his efforts.

We partnered with Bradley to put together group ticket pricing for the Drake game. Let's sell out Carver on Sunday.

I don't know if it makes sense business wise with cost or if it would be worth it in our particular case, but I saw a Keyontae Johnson shirt like this linked below and wondered if HOTB could sell shirts like these of players? A Jashon dunking one might have been a hit for example. Maybe Malevy blocking a shot? Hick shooting a three, or in a defensive pose? I know I've bought Cubs player shirts from 500 Level fairly often in that style.

Here is a college football one from 500 Level: https://www.500level.com/collections...sconsin-nil-01

Maybe Bradley graphics design majors/programs could even get involved in the design process?

Another idea could be like obvious shirts, where a simple red or black shirt just says something like Malevy Will Block Your Shot or something similar. I like that we have shirts with player numbers, but wondered if we could be a little more creative with it?

Just tossing out some ideas, again I have no idea of the practicality of them.

They definitely could do shirts with player pics, but couldn't likely used the BU logo. Obvious shirts style would be interesting because they have a distinct style, but due to simplicity I doubt they have any legal protections.

Ya 500 Level doesn't include teams on their shirts. It seems to be players/player rights organizations that deal with them. So they can be a model of how to design them.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are going to be putting more and more player-specific shirts out there this year. We do have some like...

Obvious Shirts actually has a trademark on their design. We have something similar though at https://hotbrave.com/products/compet...ebound-t-shirt

What do they have trademarked? Just the font?

Basically it’s their style they have trademarked.

Interesting that meets the standards, but I also don't do IP law.

Honestly, I don't think player specific shirts are really that interesting and at Bradley's level will never really sell. Maybe if players were likely to stick around for four years, but anybody good enough that you might want their shirt is just going to leave in 1 years. Or at least knowing that they might is enough to keep me from ever buying anything.
