anyone old enough to remember that a Bradley player was suspended essentially for his entire DI career for pot then dismissed?
And another one was dismissed from the team due to marijuana use, and the local newspaper guys apparently got hold of his confidential drug test results or just flatly speculated then built an entire column around it suggesting Bradley was a "renegade program"?
And that same newspaper guy dug up an ancient police log report on a DUI and used it to completely destroy the career
of one of the top college assistant coaches & torpedo any possibility of Bradley hiring him?
(The newspaper guys bear a degree of responsibility for the lost decade of Bradley basketball and the tanking of attendance,
but they're probably proud of it because Bradley bought up some houses on Maplewood that ticked them off))

By contrast, this guy was jailed on 6 charges related to his marijuana arrest, but he's a starter so he served a total of just 3 games suspension,
and in another week nobody will even remember it all.

Yoda, I think you may be referring to Ray Brown from the 2005-06 team? I always wondered whatever happened to him. He came in as a freshman with potential from MN and I never heard what happened to him after he left.

Tucker DeVries was in hospital for 5 days-released today. Understand it is a staph infection in his elbow.

Drake really defended the three and did not allow Belmont to make back cuts to the basket. Belmont was never really in the game after the first 7 minutes and Drake could have beat them by more than 18.

It was a rare poor shooting performance from Belmont today. Drew Friberg, who hurt Bradley twice with his 3-pointers and who was averaging over 13 ppg, was scoreless today, and 0-4 from three. Belmont was 23-52 from three in 2 games against Bradley, but was just 1-16 today. And, they went 6-14 on free throws. Only 4 players scored. It was only Belmont's second loss at home all year.

Illinois State's leading scorer, Darius Burford, missed Illinois State's home win over SIU yesterday (Sunday, 1/29) with an "orbital bone fracture" suffered in practice the day before-

Burford, a 6' junior who transferred from Elon University, was averaging 11.4 ppg. There has not been any word on how long he could be out.
The orbital bones (there are 7 orbital bones on each side) are what form the eye socket, and fractures vary in severity. Surgery is not usually needed, but if orbital fractures don't heal properly, it can result in lasting vision problems. So how long he might miss is dependent on how serious the fracture is. It is an injury seen in basketball players when hit by an elbow. Sometimes players can return and play by wearing a rigid mask. Burford is reportedly being seen today by a specialist.
