    In MVC play so far-
Bradley has played 4 home games and 5 road games. Their home games were UNI, UIC, Valpo, & Evansville. Their road games were Missouri State, Belmont, Murray State, Drake, and Indiana State,

Belmont has played 5 home games and 4 road games. Their home games were Valpo, BU, Missouri State, UNI, & Murray State, Their road games were at ILSU, SIU, UIC, & Valpo

Not trying to diss Belmont, they have proven to be one of the best teams in the MVC this season. But, Bradley has played the tougher schedule so far, and thus should have a little easier schedule in the last half of the MVC regular season.
All 5 of Bradley's MVC road games (see above) were at the toughest places to play and against teams with winning MVC records in contention for the league title, and they have won 2 of them (Missouri State & Indiana State). They lost at Belmont, Murray St., and Drake.
On the other hand, Belmont has only played 4 MVC road games, and 3 of them were against the bottom 4 teams with losing records. They beat UIC and Valpo, and lost at Illinois State and at SIU.
Bradley's NET rank this morning (1/19/23) is 69, up 10 points from yesterday after their win at Indiana State.
Belmont's NET rank is 131, mainly due to playing a weaker schedule, including the weaker MVC schedule so far.

Belmont has been one of the most successful mid-major programs since joining Division I in the 1999-2000 season.
They have won 20 or more games 16 of the last 17 seasons, and the one season they did not win 20, they won 19 games.
They have averaged 21.4 wins per season in their 23 seasons in Division I, and 25.2 wins per season over the last 12 seasons.
    Historical record- https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/belmont/

Their leading scorer is 6'6" senior guard Ben Sheppard (18.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.5 apg, 42.5% from three).
He lead the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring last season, and was named to the 10-member 1st team All-OVC team.
He was also named to this season's 1st team Preseason All-MVC team, and his 18.3 ppg is a close 3rd in the MVC currently.
    Other starters are:
6'7" freshman Cade Tyson- he is the 3rd leading scorer (12.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 40.8% from three), and one of 4 regulars who shoot 40% or better from three.
6'9" junior center Even Brauns- He averages 6.7 ppg and 4.2 rpg, and he shoots 60.5% from the floor. He is 0-4 on 3-pointers. He is now 2nd in the MVC with an average of 1.6 blocks per game, trailing Malevy Leon (1.7 bpg).
6'7" grad-student forward Drew Friberg- Grad-transfer from Princeton in his first season at Belmont. He averages 12.8 ppg and 3.9 rpg, and he is shooting 48.3% from three so far this season. That ranks 4th best in the country.
6'2" senior guard Keishawn Davidson- Transfer who spent 3 seasons at Tennessee Tech. He missed Belmont's first 6 games, but has started the last 14 games since returning from a shoulder injury. Averaging 7.2 ppg, 2.4 rpg, and 4.5 assists per game. He is shooting 35.1% from three.
    Top reserves-
6'0" freshman guard Ja'Kobi Gillespie- He started the first 7 games for Belmont, but has been a reserve since Keishawn Davidson returned from injury. He averages 22 minutes per game, 8.9 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 3.2 apg, and shoots 29.4% from three.
6'4" senior guard EJ Bellinger- Averages 4.0 ppg in 8 mpg off the bench. Shooting 46.4% from three.

As a team, Belmont shoots 40.2% from three, which ranks 1st in the MVC and 4th best in the country.
Bradley is 2nd in the MVC in 3-point FG% at 36.0%.
They average 74.6 ppg on offense- 2nd in MVC (71.3 ppg in MVC games), and yield 70.0 ppg on defense- 9th in MVC (66.9 ppg in MVC games)
Bradley averages 70.8 ppg on offense- 4th in MVC (71.2 ppg in MVC games), and yields 60.7 ppg on defense- 1st in MVC (59.2% in MVC games)

Slow down Sheppard and Friberg and I think we roll at home.

Agreed. 3-point shooting is their only path to victory.

Drew Friberg will be tough to shut down. He is one of the best and most consistent 3-point shooters in the country.
I checked some numbers on Friberg, who almost single-handedly beat Bradley by shooting 6-8 from three when the Braves lost in Nashville, 63-60.

He is shooting 48.3% from three this season, which ranks 4th in the country in D1. His 6-8 against Bradley was his best shooting game of the season.
Here are his game by game stats-
            https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...4/drew-friberg

And stats broken down for his 3 point percentage at home vs. in road games, vs. on a neutral court-
            In 9 home games- 51.5% (35-68 )
            In 8 true road games- 46.4% (26-56)
In 3 neutral court games- 42.1% (8-19 in the Paradise Jam in USVI)

So he has been a pretty consistent shooter all season, with outstanding numbers regardless whether at home, on the road, or on neutral courts.

The only 2 bad shooting games he's had this season were 1-6 from three in Belmont's loss at SIU, and 1-5 from three in their win at home against Valparaiso. So I hope the coaches are looking at the video of those 2 games to see if there is any trick to keeping Friberg from going crazy from the 3-point line. If Bradley can defend Belmont's perimeter shooting, IMO that is the key to winning the game

            Drew Friberg's career stats-

I mentioned this is the Indiana St. post game...this is the biggest game of the year once again. It's a home game, and we should be fired up to play them after last time.

A loss and we are essentially three games behind Belmont due to tiebreak (with no games left against them) with a chance for SIU to go up two games and/or have other teams pass us in the standings. Can't let that happen at home.

A win and we are behind SIU only by one game (or maybe tied for first) with two games left against them. We currently hold the tie break with the other 6-3 teams by virtue of beating them in our only meetings so far. We would be 1-1 against Belmont, but should also own the tiebreak by virtue of NET rankings. Our schedule eases up considerable after this game too.

I know many said we are back in contention after Indiana St., but lose this and we are right back out of it. So I will believe we are contenders if we win this game. Again, it is at home, so a true contender must win this game. Belmont is not overly athletic, which is sometimes our weak spot, so no reason to lose this. I am very excited to see how we respond. I hope the crowd is good!

                  Agreed BUfan!

                  Let's keep rollin' at Carver!
Coach Wardle keeps saying that we're in a 20-round boxing match - no time to lose focus. Take 1 round at a time.
Hope the fans come out in bunches to support this great group of guys!

I don't want to get too ahead of things, but win these next 2 and we'll be in a position we haven't been in for decades...at the halfway point and near the top of the league with a good chance to win the title!

That's not going to grow our fanbase or get students excited for Bradley basketball. We absolutely need to get a cohesive and well thought out strategy to start getting younger fans to care about our team. Its going to become a very serious problem in 10 years.

No. It is not a problem for 10 years from now. It is a problem right now. Look at our fans in attendance. And how many seats there are unoccupied, either no shows or no sold seats.
