Seems like every time we claw our way back enough in a season to say “ok, here is another big road game to really establish ourselves as contenders.” This is the result. Such poor play and effort.
I just want to actually contend for a Valley regular season championship one time. I don’t see any way they can come back on the road against this team and that deficit. I really hope I’m wrong, but it seems like it’s over already. I don’t know that we have the heart to do it.
It’s why games like Evansville are losing their luster to me. Ya it’s nice to win big, but it doesn’t mean anything when you can’t beat actual contenders, or even play well against them.
When we look at who’ve we beaten and lost to, I’m not sure we are even top 2-3 contenders. The win list is not very impressive, and we’ve played embarrassingly bad in many losses. That’s a big concern if so.
I think Brian is a solid coach, but I mentioned his stubbornness recently. At what point does he look at his sub patterns and everything he is doing on the road and make a change? To have only one starter out there during an early crucial stretch…why?
By the way, this is why it’s hard to play a guard who can’t shoot. I don’t know why teams haven’t done this before today, but they’re not even guarding Pop. He has to keep defenses honest or it’s hard to play him at all.
