This is a sticky topic.

One mitigating factor if this guy is a true post-player, it shouldn't take long before he is comfortable in BUs offense. High screen-roll, pick-pop, high ball screens etc are relatively universal. Plus foundation stuff like rebounding and low block defense.

So will he be eligible? to make the trip to Belmont and able to play?

Well I’m really dying to know who it is and find out all about him. Didn’t ISU Red have a Serbian that lit us up last year that also transferred?
https://goredbirds.com/sports/mens-b...-mahorcic/8189
He left ISU after the 2020-21 season and transferred to Utah, where he didn't play much. Then he transferred again this season, and is at North Carolina State. Unfortunately, after playing 10 games, he suffered a dislocated patella (kneecap) and required surgery. He is not expected to return this season.

Career Stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...dusan-mahorcic
And though he did have some good games while playing for ISU, his two games against Bradley were not very high scoring games. Here is his game log for the one season he spent at ISU. In the two games against Bradley he had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 8 points, 9 rebounds. Bradley won both games.

Some Bradley fans might remember that former BU center Jordan Prosser suffered a dislocated kneecap in Bradley's first game of the 2011 MVC Tournament, a win over Drake.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Dyricus Simms-Edwards scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds, career highs in both categories, to lead Bradley to a 63-48 win over Drake in the opening round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Thursday night at the Scottrade Center.
If this new transfer enrolls for January Interim classes can he be eligible to play or does he have to wait until Spring classes begin?
And if this is not a transfer, but a new college enrollee, I don't see any reason he wouldn't be eligible as soon as he gets to Bradley and enrolls, as long as he meets the minimum NCAA eligibility requirements.

Hey Tommy… a couple of years ago ISU Red did have Dusan Mahorcic. He transferred to a school out west, was dismissed from that team and transferred again to NC State. If my memory serves me well, I believe Mahorcic was injured recently and not playing right now.

IMO, if there is one thing this team is lacking that would give Bradley an advantage this season and in the MVC Tournament, as well as in the postseson NCAA Tournament if we are so fortunate, is a true low post player. Yes, Bradley has better overall size than any other MVC team, but none are true back-to-the basket low post players. My guess is our coaches want to add a player with the open scholarship that fills that missing piece. And they aren't looking for a project to develop. I don't know how much they have seen of this recruit, but they must believe he can play and contribute now.

What I have been told is he is a Serbian big man (described as "huge"), pretty skilled, and he's "on the way"....
And yes, the NCAA counts even 1/2 year as a full season of eligibility, which is why it doesn't happen very often. Plus, as you said, they are deprived of the off-season workouts, and all the preseason conditioning and practices. So they will be unfamiliar with the system, their new coaches, and their new teammates. Another reason why very few recruits will enroll this way.
