  • I would expect players to be visiting this weekend and next week.

Correct... There are now well over 2,000 names in the D1 transfer portal, and no more than 5-10% of them have committed anywhere yet. So there is a lot of talent available to fill the voids on D1 rosters. And that doesn't include the Division II portal, which has 1,000 more names, many of whom, like Christian Davis, are capable of turning into quality Division 1 players. Even fewer of the D2 portal kids have committed anywhere yet.
There are reasons why the portal players seem to be slower to commit this year. Transfer portal recruiting has changed. Every kid now is being advised by NIL agents. Most are being advised to wait, get as many offers as possible and evaluate the schools carefully in terms of playing time, chances of success, as well as NIL money. Bradley is well situated in those areas, so there is a good chance they will land quality, high-character players once the dead period is over and in-person recruiting and visits can resume.

      • Hope after this dead period is over after today staff can get visits and going forward get players to commit. Always that chance no matter how highly they are on paper, the true test is will they buy into Wardle's culture. Hoping Wardle can land those type of players and can contribute right away.

And that is why I think Wardle will be selective and recruit players that fit rather just a warm body

there are roughly 11 teams in the MVC you could say that about...

Yes, it's not always easy to predict how successful a transfer will be. A good example is Missouri State this past season. Cuonzo Martin landed several transfers who, on paper, looked like quality D1 players, and some were double-digit scorers at their previous school. Their season started out looking good. They had some impressive wins, including a relatively easy wire to wire win over Big South Champion High Point (29-6), and finished their non-conference schedule 7-4.
But, for whatever reason, it just didn't work out from there. They went on to have the worst season any Missouri State team has ever had in the MVC, finishing last, 2-18, with a bunch of blowout losses, including a quick exit from the MVC Tournament.

because the MVC ain't a bunch of cupcakes. Don't let the door hit you in the butt as you leave the Valley from the cellar, Bears!

On a side note, feel free to leave the Sugar Bears.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

                    • Jemel Jones- has at least one, maybe two seasons of eligibility (juco), originally from Chicago area (Blue Island, IL)
Jemel Jones (21) Guard - 2024-25 (JUNIOR): Appeared in all 33 games for CSUB, starting in 26... Made his Division I collegiate debut versus California on Nov. 4

                      • I have heard more than a dozen names today that Bradley has interest in. Many are new names and are connected with one or both of the new assistant coaches now working at Bradley.

                        • SUU's Allan Hanson is coming to Bradley, and Southern Utah's point guard is headed to the portal,
along with FOUR of their top scorers.
I am hoping for a big package deal!

and... Bobby Suarez is from Portland, their top 3 players are also all in the Portal
                          Max Mackinnon (6-6)- 14.5ppg & 41% 3-pt shooter,
                          Austin Rapp (6-10)- 13.8ppg & 6.5rpg,
                          Vukasin Masic(6-5)- 10.5ppg
...so is their back up center, 7-0 Mezziah Oakman (67% FG%)

Masic is roughly the same age as Ahmet Jonovic and is also from Serbia.

                          • An idea where Burdick for SUU is going or is he is staying at Southern Utah?

do you have a report that he's in the portal?
he played baseball (at 6-11) for one year at DI University of San Francisco, then one year of basketball at juco (9ppg, 9rpg)
and just spent one year at SUU with 2ppg, 3rpg, but I don't see anywhere that he is transferring.

                              • That is what I was asking. I hadn't seen it anyplace. SUU's site shows a 7'0" junior that was first team all conference and averaged 11 and 11 in conference play.

Kai Burdick (25) Center - Prior To SUU Mira Costa JUCO First-Team All PCAC Nine double-doubles Averaged 11 and 11 in conference play Played baseball

However, individual stats seem to contradict those stats unless I am looking at them wrong. I used the numbers on his JC profile by mistake and should have looked closer. They on listed on his SUU's roster page. I would delete but other people have seen my mistake so I will leave it as a lesson. Sorry.
