How could the camera work get any worse at the end of that game! At least a nice win on the road…

What a crazy game! First, SIUE is a good team. They have athletic guards, as well as the Wright brothers. They played terrific defense all night, frustrating Bradley players. The refs were allowing a lot of contact by SIUE defenders, and it resulted in a lot of Bradley turnovers (18 ), and lousy shooting percentages (39.6% overall, and 30.4% from three. SIUE shot extremely well in the first half (54.2% overall, and 60% from three), but they cooled off substantially in the 2nd half due to better defense by the Braves (33% overall, and 20% from three).
Bradley's leading scorer and rebounder, Malevy Leons, had only 2 points and 3 rebounds. SIUE's leading scorer Ray'Sean Taylor had only 6 points with 4 turnovers. Mast, Hannah, and Hickman carried the Braves offense with 12 points each. Ville's 8 points, Duke's 6 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals, and Bradley's 39-27 rebounding advantage, and 12-2 advantage in offensive rebounds helped make the difference.
Just relieved to get out of Edwardsville with the win.

Trust me, very glad with the W! One of the most lackluster performances by a Wardle team, terrible passes, terrible ball handling, and not impressed with the coaching tonight...piss poor effort to say the least...

I was afraid of a letdown and i think that happened. After a good victory at Missouri State I think they relaxed thinking it was just SIUE

Here is a much better look at the final play-

And here is a screen shot showing that the clock expired and the red lights around the backboard lit up while the ball was still in the hands of SIUE guard Ray'Sean Taylor who caught the tipped ball and launched the desperation shot. Note the game clock in the right upper corner showing time expired (0.0)

There's a troubling trend of excessive turnovers with this team that will cost wins in league play against drake, InSu and siu. Just sloppy and undisciplined.

One of the most lackluster performances by a Wardle team? What? I know there were too many turnovers but I think this is a major overreaction. We've had more games than I'd like to think about during the tenure where we lost to much worse teams and had much worse efforts than this. If this is one of the "most" lackluster performances, then we probably have about 5 or 6 conference championships by now and are like Loyola ready to eject from the Valley.

I was actually rather pleased, like they said in the postgame, that we had our B or C game and that was still enough to win on the road against a pretty good team.
                        Go Braves!

Just got home. I was afraid of a possible let down and the start of the game certainly was that. Absolutely horrible unforced turnovers. A great start to the second half saved the day. I thought SIU-E did a great job doubling down on nearly every drive or pass into the lane. That did seem to frustrate the Braves. Crazy ending to say the least!

Look, that was a frantic, shaky collage of basketball bloopers and dysfunction. Deen coughed the ball up so many times that you couldn’t count them all, and we really couldn’t complete a clean A to B pass all night long.

Couldn’t get the ball in bounds with the game on the line? Just about lost on a layup with 1-2 sec left? Nobody played well.

That being said, most years we lose this game. SIUE is really decent and they scrap you and get you to play down. Winning this beats the pants of the alternative.

learn from this win and let’s keep getting better. Way to go BU. You got it done.

                            Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

I’ll take the win on the road over a solid team. That being said, to make it a battle against Arkansas, unforced sloppy turnovers have to stop. Malevy and Deen have to be more consistent. Deen as a ball handler and Malevy as a scorer. Leons did have a big drive late at least.

Nice to see Hannah step up. With players coming back I thought he was starting to play himself out of the rotation, but this was a big step back in the right direction.

I’m a little surprised how inconsistent Connor seems at the line so far this year. Small enough sample I guess, but still. We need to get to the line more as a team in general.

Clean it up over the next week and a half and maybe we can scare Arkansas. Pretty solid win to have on the resume as ugly as it was.

I remember the 2018-19 season where we lost to the likes of IUPUI and Eastern Illinois (at home), then we went on to lose our first 5 conference games and I was wondering if we'd beat anyone that year only to see them completely turn it around and win the MVC tournament.

BW teams typically finish much stronger than they start and early season losses and close games are what build character, and beyond that, it is never easy to win back to back road games. If we can go out and not play our best basketball and still pull out a win, I'd say that's a good thing and something to build on.

Lets not forget, we still have 2 of our better players (certainly good enough to be in the starting five) sitting out injured right now, so I think things are looking pretty bright this year, though we definitely need to stay focused as the Valley is always a competitive conference and nobody is going to give us wins.

On a side note, I apologize for not getting videos posted recently. My video editor hasn't been working and beyond that, life has been much busier than it used to be. I'm working on it and hope to get back to posting games as they're played and I'll do my best to get as many of the old games up as I can.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.
