6 MVC games Monday, Nov. 21- UNI's Nate Heise injured
UNI playing without starter Nate Heise, lost to a pretty good U. of San Francisco team 75-69 in their opening game of Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, MO- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId/401486785
Nate Heise suffered a hand injury in practice, and will be out for 4-6 weeks (broken bone?). That's a tough blow for UNI, since they are not a deep team. Bradley's first Valley game is Nov. 30 at home against UNI.
Illinois State lost to LSU 77-61 in the opening round of the Cayman Islands Classic- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId/401485464
It was not as close as the score indicates. LSU lead by 27 points at halftime (45-18 ), and were never really threatened.
Former Manual and U of Illinois player Adam Miller had 13 points, and former Murray State big man KJ Williams, who was the OVC Player of the Year last season, had 33 points & 8 rebounds for LSU.
UIC pulled away late in 2nd half against future Bradley opponent and 1st year Division I program Stonehill in the Tom Konchalski Classic in NY City to win 77-71- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId/401492450
And Drake plays at 7 pm against Tarleton State for the championship of the 2023 Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, USVI- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId/401486450
Tarleton, in their 3rd season in Division I, is coached by former Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie. They have already beaten Belmont and Boston College to advance to the championship. Drake beat Buffafo and Wyoming to advance.
And only 1 rebound. That will continue to be a problem, even when they get Heise back. They are just not very deep and lack size and rebounding. They need others to contribute, because they aren't going to get 30 points out of Betz and Duax many nights.

UNI has never said specifically what the injury was that guard Nate Heise suffered, but he was scheduled to return to playing Wednesday in their game against Missouri State in Cedar Falls.
However, now UNI is reporting that Heise's injury has not healed sufficiently, and he underwent surgery today.
He will not play the rest of this season. Another tough blow for UNI.
Just a week after Northern Iowa Coach Ben Jacobson shared some positive news regarding the health of his three-year backcourt starter, things have taken a turn for the worst.
