  • Just my opinion! Coach Bennett is done because of NIL influence and open transfer in college basketball. Big dollars, especially in major college programs can eventually destroy an original design. It was framed as “student athletes” playing a sport and getting an education. Now, at major college level, I question the incentive to invest the necessary effort in the classroom.
I understand, college basketball is also a minor league and hopeful stepping stone to the NBA.
However, the NBA with players like Hersey Hawkins, Larry Bird, and Michael Jordan was much better than current product.

        • Thanks Coach for posting comments from Tony Bennett. Family time is so important and for coaches is a premium. I still
believe the status of the college coaching environment has been weakened and now much less attractive.

Maybe, but since it pays $4-5 million per year, I think there will always be qualified candidates to take the job.

I can't imagine that this would happen this year. That wouldn't likely be good for either school.

                    • Very sad story- South Florida Head Coach Amir Abdur-Rahim has died at the age of 43 - https://www.tampabay.com/sports/bull...rahim-dies-43/
No specifics have been released on the cause of his death.

South Florida is playing in the Myrtle Beach Invitational this year with Bradley. They are opposite sides of the bracket, so they could play each other in the 3rd round - https://espnevents.com/myrtle-beach-...ional/bracket/

Doug Gottlieb, who was hired by Wisconsin-Green Bay last May as their head coach, is not off to a very good start. The GB Phoenix are 2-11 so far, and have lost 8 in a row. They have a NET ranking of 321, and a Kenpom of 326.
Green Bay played an 11 am "Education Day" game this morning against Division II Michigan Tech, and lost 70-72 to them.
Adding to the embarrassment, Gottlieb discussed the game last week, and he referred to Michigan Tech as "Nobody U".-

"Part of the reason I want to play better teams is it's two degrees and snowing outside," Gottlieb said, seemingly referring to Michigan Tech, after Green Bay's loss to Milwaukee last week."I don't really like the idea of 'Nobody U' coming in here. What do we learn from a game that we win by 20 (points). There's a methodology to it, and I'm going to have to adjust moving forward."

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.
