  • Wyoming head coach Jeff Linder resigns to take the top assistant coach position at Texas Tech under Grant McCasland. - https://county10.com/reports-jeff-li...assistant-job/

Wyoming is now suddenly looking for a new head coach. They are reportedly zeroing in on Wisconsin-Green Bay's Sundance Wicks - https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com...h/73660073007/

Wicks was just hired a year ago after Green Bay suffered through 3 horrible seasons under Will Ryan. He lead Green Bay to one of the most successful turnarounds in NCAA history in 2023-24, taking a team that went 3-29 in 2022-23, and going 18-14 overall and 13-7 in the Horizon League and being named Horizon League Coach of the Year. - https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb...green-bay/men/

    • The last two times Green Bay was looking to hire a new head coach, a Bradley assistant was a candidate.

Haha..... I saw yesterday that Gottlieb was a candidate, and I thought it was either a joke or a courtesy for him to build a resume'.
His coaching experience is extremely limited - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Gottlieb#Coaching

He knows a lot about the game, but can he coach and recruit in D1?

            • Gottlieb: known for wearing his shorts backwards once for a game and also a horrendous FT %. He had an ex valley teammate at Ok St (Victor Williams that transferred from the Redbirds)

I know his sister is a very successful women's CBB coach think she's at USC but yah thought it was a joke as well. Someone said he really wanted to be a D1 head coach. Find it odd he is still going to do his radio show as well, would think he'd have no time for that

Things like this make you wonder if it's just one big club that we're not a part of. Like Geno Ford is still a head coach in D1 - unexplainable!
                  Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

                  • This is a very strange time of the year to start talking about firing your coach - but it's even more puzzling when it's
Marquette fans, after a season where they were ranked all year, finished with 27 wins in the Sweet 16.

But they obviously have some very deranged fans - maybe even more than some of ours who were orgasmic over the hiring of Geno Ford...

And yet there's ample discussion among Marquette fans on their board about dumping Shaka Smart and hiring someone else...

Here's a couple posts from last night

Bennett is just 55 years old. He has had tremendous success at Virginia. He is 364-136 in 15 seasons, an average of 24.3 wins per season, and he has one National Championship (2019). And he is is 1-0 against Bradley.
                          Coaching record- https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb...bennett-1.html

The timing of his retirement seems odd. Bennett just signed a contract extension keeping at Virginia at least through 2030 - https://virginiasports.com/news/2024...act-extension/

He reportedly will have a press conference at 11 am Eastern time Friday. - https://apnews.com/article/uva-baske...889202e11027de

...rumor is it has to do with the NIL landscape and not wanting to deal with it anymore

Yes, I have seen that mentioned. But I wonder what changed since he signed that huge contract extension in July of this year? The NIL situation is the same now as it was 3 months ago. I think there could be more to it.
