    • My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

        • Prob no surprise but hearing that barring an amazing run from the 9-seed spot, that the MVC will have an opening - and that the name Cuonzo will come up

Another name you might hear for the Missouri State job when Dana Ford is let go is Corey Gipson. He was an assistant at Missouri State under Paul Lusk and Dana Ford from 2015-2022. He left in 2022 to take the Northwestern State job in Louisiana, and a lot of people think his leaving after their successful 2021-22 season had a lot to do with the huge drop-off the next season. At Northwestern State, he took over a bad 9-23 team, and immediately turned them into a winner. He went 22-13 on his only year there. Then this year, he took over a 9-22 Austin Peay program that finished dead last in the ASUN last year. And again, he immediately turned them into a winner. They are 18-14 this season, 10-6 in the ASUN conference, They have won 8 of their last 9 games, and tonight they won and advanced to the semi-finals of the ASUN Tournament. He's impressed a lot of people with his coaching, recruiting, and his ability to immediately turn around bad programs.
He is a graduate of Austin Peay and a former assistant there, so it might be hard to lure him away. But the MVC would be a bit of a step up.

              • Could get interesting with more Valley coaches than we think this weekend. There might be fire and under more coaching seats in STL this weekend than we realize. Will someone else get burned?

Someone had an insider tip on SIU?

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

                      • Washington's Mike Hopkins will not return as head coach of the Huskies men's basketball program after the season concludes, the school announced on Friday.

                        • Hopkins was the head coach in waiting at Syracuse and Jim Boeheim had set a date to retire. A couple of years later Boeheim decided he wasn't ready to retire and Hopkins decided not to wait any longer and got the Washington Job.

We all knew this was coming. I think Missouri State wanted to wait until after the tournament, but word that it will be happening has leaked out.

I don't know the source of the tweet, where the author got this information, but Kowalczyk would be a nice "get" for SIU. Toledo won the MAC on the last day of the season. Their tournament starts Friday. Now, the question is: Would Toledo let Kowalczyk go or give him an incentive to stay?

As for the others on this list, Smithpeters is an SIU alum, Gipson and Preston both built their programs fairly quickly, don't know any details about these three, don't know anything about the other names mentioned.
