  • Loyola- now in A-10

Loyola left the MVC and will play in the Atlantic-10 this season. They also lost 5 of their top 7 scorers from last year's team, and won't see the same success this season.
Loyola is on a summer tour in France. Their first game was Saturday (Aug. 13) against a team from Le Cannett. They are one of the bottom teams in the low-level NM2 league. They finished in 12th place in the NM2 league last season. The Ramblers came from behind to win 84-78. Freshman guard Jaylen Quinn was the leading scorer with 17 pts.

Their 2nd game was today against Chorale de Roane, the 13th place team from the higher level ProA League last season. Loyola shot 38% and 23% from three, and lost 80-60. Their leading scorer was Sheldon Edwards, who played for Valparaiso last year. He had 10 points.

They are 1-1 on their tour, and play one more game Saturday against another ProA League team, FOS Provence.
FOS Provance finished in 16th place in the ProA league last season.

Loyola? Who's Loyola? Just used the MVC as a stepping stone to better conferences like Creighton, Wichita State, St. Louis, Tulsa, Louisville (ACC now), Memphis all did.
My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

Loyola may have to decide whether finishing in the middle (or lower) in the A-10 is better than being toward the top of the MVC.

Porter Moser used them as a stepping stone to move on, after he talked about how well he loved it at Loyola. He even got Tom Ricketts former home that was “inadvertently” left off the property tax assessor’s inventory.
Loyola will have significant increases in their travel costs in the A10

They can double or even triple the athletic budget by switching.

So being a rich loser is more important than being a poor winner. That’s one problem with college athletics.
