I can't knock his pick of Drake as the #1 team, since they return the largest percentage of team production of any MVC team, plus they finished tied for 2nd in 2021-22. In that earlier thread, I had Bradley #1, Drake #2, and SIU #3.
But Murray State (picked #2 in that twitter link) lost every one of their 13 scholarship players, except D.J. Burns, a 5.8 ppg scorer who pulled out of the transfer portal and returned to MSU. They also lost their coach. They appear to have a nice recruiting class, but combined with a step up to a better conference, I think it will be tough for them to finish that high.
And SIU was a 6th place team and lost 2 starters who were their best 3-point shooters. They were 1-10 against teams in the MVC with winning records last year, and although they have a few decent additions, it might be tough to jump over teams like Bradley, UNI, and Missouri State.
But, it's anyone's guess which teams will finish in the top 3 or 4. It's probably a lot easier to pick the bottom 3 or 4.
