Panola is where Duke Dean played his first year before going to Troy.

Bradley promoted Mike Black to the Director of Basketball Operations for the men's team. He was previously the Coordinator of Player Development and Video Operations. And Bradley has hired Patrick Althoff as the new Coordinator of Player Development and Video Operations.

Patrick Althoff spent the last year as an assistant coach at Howard College, a junior college in Big Spring, Texas. Prior to that, he was a graduate assistant at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida for 2 seasons. And prior to that, he was a student manager at University of Illinois for 4 years. He is originally from Bloomington, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Illinois, and he has a Masters degree from Jacksonville U..

      Welcome to Bradley, Patrick!

Any relation to former BU player Tim Althoff?

I wondered that, too. For those a bit younger than Nashville Cat and me, Tim Althoff was from McHenry, Illinois and was a star basketball player for Marian Central Catholic High School (Woodstock, IL). He was recruited by Joe Stowell, and played for Bradley from 1971 to 1974-

He was a teammate of Tom Les, who played at Bradley from 1972-1975-

Tom Les married Tim's sister, Betsy Althoff, and after graduating from Bradley, Tom went to work for the Althoff family business, and is still listed as their CFO
          https://www.althoffind.com/about/staff (scroll down)

Sadly, Tim Althoff died at the young age of 49 in 2001-

According to Patrick Althoff's LinkedIn page, he graduated from St. Teresa High School in Decatur, Illinois, in 2015, and from the University of Illinois in 2019. According to my search, there appears to be a number of Althoffs in central and southern Illinois, in addition to northern Illinois. I can't find any source that links him to Tim Althoff, so if anyone knows, let us know.

Good info Coach. I know this young man’s mother, as I worked in the same department with her at State Farm for a few years. Good family!
On another note since you brought up Tom Les, back in the late 70’s I taught and coached in the far (at that time) northwest suburbs. I was coaching at the Jr. High level then and at that time Tom was coaching for a year or so at the Catholic grade school in McHenry. We were in the same conference, so I had the opportunity to coach against him early in his coaching career. Great guy and you could see even at that time that he was going to be a great coach.
Thanks for stirring up some old memories. Happy at my age I can remember some things from that long ago!!

Former Bradley Director of Basketball Operations Mike Nesbitt (corrected) is now the head coach at Panola College, a junior college in Texas.

His team is off to a 10-2 start, and they average over 83 points per game-

Here are his team's individual stats-

Looks like his team is quite guard-heavy already (roster lists 12 guards)-

.... so maybe not the best juco for a midyear guard to transfer to?

Maybe Nesbitt can help add another potential pipeline for recruits. We need guards and Marcus Greene at Panola seems to provide some of the characteristics that we need.

Yeah, that was a brain fart. We had too many "Mikes" on the staff Mike Bargen, Mike Black, and Mike Nesbitt. Thanks for the correction.
I meant Mike Nesbitt (I even quoted myself from an earlier post about Nesbitt ). He was the DBO who left Bradley to take that head coaching spot at Panola, and Mike is doing a good job.

You seriously confused me, I thought we had some coaching pipeline started with Panola

After a successful season as the head coach at Panola College (28-5), former Bradley DBO Mike Nesbitt is on the move again. He was just hired as an assistant coach at D1 High Point University in High Point, North Carolina. They are members of the Big South Conference, and after several poor seasons under Tubby Smith, and then under his son G.G. Smith, High Point just hired Creighton assistant Alan Huss. Huss was the head coach at La Lumiere Prep school a decade ago when Mike Nesbitt played there his senior year of high school.
                              Congratulations Mike!
