This is a "temporary injunction", but is still a gift to the big schools who can now use unlimited NIL money for recruiting purposes, which the NCAA had restricted.
If it stands, it essentially makes pay-for-play completely legal now.
Even the NCAA limit of 13 scholarships would become almost meaningless, since many of the big schools can raise enough NIL money to recruit kids and pay for their "scholarships" with NIL money.

I hate seeing this.We need to get controls on this otherwise it is going to get way out of hand and create chaos

I heard a lot of bragging about how good our NIL is and now it is time to show by securing Deen, Hannah and Hickman for another season. The other thing is having enough money to spend on transfers coming into BU so we get more good players. This will be so important in moving the program forward in the next few years.

The NCAA sent out this memo today to member schools that they will abide by the injunction and pause all investigations of 3rd party NIL groups - https://www.on3.com/nil/news/ncaa-is...tion-decision/

They used the word "pause" to make it clear that they could resume enforcing their rules regarding the 3rd party NIL groups when this court case involving their investigation into the Tennessee NIL collective is resolved. The NCAA also made it clear that their rules prohibiting pay-for-play, institutional payments and quid-pro-quo requirements are still in place.

Yes, if and when NCAA schools split into a Major division and a mid-major division, this might turn out to be the distinction. The top division will treat athletes as professionals/employees, and will rake in big bucks. And there will be a lower division, which would be for the amateurs/non-employees.
I hope these changes don't happen in my lifetime, because it will destroy any interest I have in college sports.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when the feds and states come for their slices. Might make it tougher to recruit to income tax states.

Illinois balked at that amount, but apparently Kansas was able to work out a deal. Eventually, Storr committed to Kansas.
The NCAA has said they will comply with court rulings and will not police or enforce any rules regarding NIL. However, they still have a lot of rules, including rules against illegal contact with another school's scholarship athletes.
With NIL money being handed out like candy, players having their own NIL representatives, and the transfer portal, everyone knows this kind of illegal contact is happening all over the country. But, apparently now its become so open and blatant, that the NCAA feels it has to take a stand.

Absolutely right. Most people think there needs to be more control, and I suspect this case is the NCAA finally stepping up and acting like they care about the integrity of college sports. In the end, it may all be for show, and IMO its doubtful the NCAA does anything but issue a statement or give a slap on the wrist.
Maybe they will find Illinois guilty, and come down hard and penalize Incarnate Word.

Unless they can show coaches or administration was involved I doubt anything comes of this.

...I see, if it hurts Bradley or Indiana State or the entire MVC- nobody seems to giva***
But, when it hurts Kentucky, Duke, Wisconsin or Illinois, now they gotta step into action and fix this mess...

It all started when they invented the RPI to help more 6th & 7th place power schools get in over deserving mid-majors,
then they had to scramble, ditch the RPI and rig something else when mid-majors started making Final Four runs
