I am hearing some of the amounts of the NIL payments to players. I won't post them publicly, but will say that the amounts differed quite a bit depending on the criteria set by the Home of the Brave NIL collective. Ja'Shon Henry received the largest check.

the amounts varied from 2-3K for newbies to 10-12K for established MBB players
Of course anyone who wants can establish an NIL group for WBB or other sports, but I am unaware of any.
These monies are in addition to what the athletes get in "Full cost of attendance" payments-
          https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ance/14200387/
and they will be able to make more for endorsements, sales of personalized items, etc.
So now each player can benefit $48K+ for the scholarship, $2K-5K for full cost of attendance, and upwards of $12K for NIL
meaning the value of a year's scholarship at Bradley is approaching $70-100K- a nice recruiting tool vs say, other in-state schools.

But there is a caution, the IRS is on to this and the athletes will have to file on their 1040, any income they receive as it will be taxable. Those players who are here from foreign nations on student visas, are excluded from doing this.
The US government has tight restrictions on students who are on a student visa from working/earning income- https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the...raining%20(CPT)
Canadian students don't need a visa to enter the US and go to US colleges.- https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/canad...%20to%20attend.

What a surprise... Looks like Bruce Pearl, head coach at Auburn, has figured out a way to take the NIL game to new extremes.
Auburn was in the middle of raising millions of dollars from their donors to build a new, state-of-the-art practice facility on campus. The Auburn University Board of Trustees gave approval, architects were hired, and plans were proceeding.
But Monday, Bruce Pearl announced that the entire project will be put on hold, and the money and the focus will be shifted into NIL projects.

Home of the Brave is a member-driven organization that provides exclusive benefits to its members, connecting them to Bradley Men’s Basketball student-athletes through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.

Player merchandise is now live and growing by the day.

All proceeds go directly to the student-athlete on the apparel. Every. Single. Cent.

Home of the Brave branded apparel purchases get split amongst the team.

A great opportunity to support your favorite players.

Apparently some players who were promised NIL money haven't gotten all they expected-

Imagine being a starter with stats like 8/4/2 per game and best defender on the team.

But your 8th man has some really funny haircut and a crazy name so is more marketable.

I can feel the drama that would radiate amongst teenagers.

Interesting problem that the University of Iowa is having with NIL.
By Pat Harty IOWA CITY, Iowa – Brad Heinrichs is frustrated, and rightfully so. As CEO of the Iowa Swarm Collective, Heinrichs has taken on the daunting and time-consuming task of leading Hawkeye athletics into a new era in which name, image and likeness is re-shaping the college sports landscape. Student-athletes can now benefit financially […]

I'm not surprised that kinks in the NIL process would arise due to Title IX concerns. I expect there will be more, including lawsuits. And despite what the article claims, I won't be surprised if eventually liberal courts rule that NIL money must be distributed "equitably".

5-star football recruit Jaden Rashada is one of the top 2023 high school quarterback recruits in the country. He originally was committed to Miami, but committed and signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Florida, after being lured by the promise of a $13 million, 4-year NIL deal offered by Gator Collective, a Florida Gator fan-run NIL group.
He was scheduled to complete his high school work early and enroll last week for the 2nd semester this year. But last month, he was notified by Gator Collective that they were terminating the NIL deal. As a result, Rashada has not enrolled at Florida and is requesting to be released from his Letter of Intent.
                          https://www.foxnews.com/sports/top-f...through-report

He and his family are reported to be looking at their options as they await the decision by Florida regarding his release. Clearly, this monetary NIL deal was used as a recruiting tool to get him to sign at Florida, and now he's had the rug pulled out from under him for unknown reasons. Could there be legal action?

That's messed up. He must not have signed a legal agreement for the NIL. This should be a warning to anyone planning on going to Florida for the money in the future.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

The Missouri state legislature just passed an NIL law and it is awaiting a signature by the governor. The new law allows for high schoolers to get paid for NIL deals if they sign a letter of intent to an in-state school.-
                              https://www.kmbc.com/article/new-mis...state%20school.

The new law also includes changes that will allow high school coaches and other school officials to be directly involved in negotiating NIL deals for athletes.
                              https://www.stltoday.com/sports/coll...630df774d.html

Does this mean the coaches and "other school officials" can get a piece of the deal as agents?

And could this type of law actually end up hurting the kids in Missouri high schools? Will out-of-state colleges be less likely to bother recruiting athletes in Missouri, knowing the in-state schools have this built-in NIL advantage arranged by the state law?

And will this lead to other states passing similar laws to benefit their own in-state colleges? One of the restrictions the NCAA initially put on NIL was that it wasn't supposed to be used as a recruiting tool. Now it has become maybe the most powerful recruiting tool colleges have.

The images in this tweet show average NIL money that athletes are getting. These numbers seem pretty consistent with everything else I've heard and read.-
