  • Metamora loses state tournament in double overtime

Metamora played Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin HS for the IHSA Class 3A State Championship. The game stayed close throughout, and despite each team having their chances, the game went to the second overtime tied. It looked like it was headed for a 3rd overtime, but a miraculous shot by SHG's KeShon Singleton on this broken play at the buzzer won the game for Sacred Heart Griffin 53-50. Tough loss for Metamora.

Ethan Kizer had a tough shooting night. He made the first shot of the game and that was his only points of the game.

Heartbreaking for a Metamora alum. Amazing accomplishment boys.
The shot actually reminds me a bit of Deon Jackson’s broken play fling. But Deon didn’t kick the ball and travel first. Oh well.
    Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

Hahaha. It was a pretty bad travel I will admit. I didn't care who won but metamora did have quite a few calls go there way throughout the game. Quite a few out of bounds calls go there way that were kinda egregious. Crazy ending tho Actually was number 5 on ESPN top 10 plays

Metamora in double OT was up 50-48 and had broken pressure at half court and had an open lane for a layup but Head Coach Danny Graves called timeout before the basket. Thought that started their downfall. Next 2 possessions they weren't strong with the ball and turned it over. Credit to Sacred Heart Griffin for converting those turnovers into points. Tough way to lose.
