  • Northeast Conference final between Wagner and Bryant

On ESPN2 is the championship game of the Northeast Conference Tournament between #1 seed Bryant and #2 seed Wagner. The game is being played in the Bryant gym, and Bryant ran out to a huge lead very early and has cruised to a 68-32 lead with about 4 1/2 minutes left in the game. That is when a skirmish began between a small number of Wagner fans seated behind their team's bench, and a huge throng of Bryant fans, mostly students, who were seated directly behind them. It appeared the escalation was caused by the Bryant fans throwing things down onto the Wagner fans, and eventually a bit more stuff was thrown at the Wagner fans, who fought back by climbing up and throwing some punches.
The game has been halted now for about 30 minutes, and the Wagner fans have all been removed. The officials have been studying the video, and trying to decide what to do with the game and what kind of punishments should be enforced. The teams have recessed to the locker rooms. It did not appear any of the Wagner players entered the stands, or were involved in the fight.

The officials have ejected one Wagner player (starting guard Will Martinez), and have called the teams to return to the court to finish the game. None of the Wagner fans have been allowed to return to their seats, but the Bryant fans who were involved are still in the section, and they have moved down even closer to the Wagner bench, but appear to be behaving OK. The Bryant players are back on the court, and after a long delay, the Wagner team has finally come back from the locker room to finish the game.
