I can not be the only one with this view. The product on display of first 3 games of elite 8 is so unattractive. Sad, what the instruments of genius have done to what was a great competitive game.

After all of the upsets it's 4 Blue Bloods in the Final Four. North Carolina had no problem with St. Peter's as they won 69-49. Armando Bacott was a man among boys for the Tar Heels as he had 20 points and 20 rebounds. That will be one big hoss fight between him and Duke's Mark Williams. After playing each other 257 times this will be the first time that Duke and North Carolina play each other in the NCAA tournament. I can't imagine that both fan bases will have something to say this week and after the game. The other semi could be affected by an injury to Villanova's best overall player Justin Moore who tore his right Achilles. Kansas is also playing really well right now and I think has the most talent of the 4 teams in the Final Four.

Just want to make a comment here. If I remember right 3 of the 4 ( not sure about Villanova ) have had accusations of cheating thrown at them in the last several years. So how do you punish them. They are invited to the Big Dance. Maybe Da Coach could help us with this. They reward corruption

You are right. It proves that cheating pays off. Nearly all the schools that have been caught for serious NCAA violations have been quite successful despite their cheating.

Kansas is still fighting the NCAA over multiple Level 1 violations (the most serious level) that were first uncovered in the FBI case and which forced the NCAA to open their investigations into the violations. They have spent millions of dollars on lawyers, fighting the NCAA, and dragging this out for years, but thus far have avoided any penalties. But the case is still being reviewed by the Complex Case Unit of the IARP, and some kind of penalties are expected eventually.

North Carolina was proven to have committed serious academic fraud in both their football and basketball programs that went on for a decade or more before they were caught. It involved sham college courses taught by assistant coaches that gave players automatic A's, courses that athletes were not required to attend, assistants taking tests for student-athletes, and lots of other cheating that the NCAA usually takes seriously. In fact, their penalties for academic fraud and "lack of institutional control" are almost always among the Level 1 offenses they punish most severely. Yet after years of investigation, the NCAA let them off the hook with essentially no penalties.

Duke has had minor NCAA violations cases every few years (Link, Link, Link) but they managed to avoid getting caught up in the FBI investigation into players being paid by Adidas and Nike to attend certain schools back in 2018 & 2019. But many insiders believed they were doing the same things that Kansas, Louisville, LSU, Oklahoma State, Auburn, and Arizona were doing. Especially since one of the athletes that was named in the FBI investigation, Zion Williamson, ended up attending Duke. But more recently, evidence has emerged that Duke was giving Williamson and his family impermissible benefits. But nobody expects the NCAA to go after Duke.

On the other hand, Villanova's last NCAA penalty came in 2004 for recruiting violations, for which they served a 2-year probation. They have either stayed clean since then, or managed to hide their cheating quite well.

I am worried about this NIL stuff I have been reading about. I have a lot more to learn about it, but I am worried that paying for this kind of thing will be an even greater disadvantage to mid major schools recruiting and keeping players. I need to read a lot more, but this is really disturbing news.

            Am I alone on this?

            Thanks all.

You are not alone. There is no doubt that the bigger schools from the top 5 or 6 "Power Conferences", and the schools with a lot of national media visibility have the supporters and the means to arrange lucrative NIL deals for their players and can use that as a recruiting tool. It will disproportionately benefit the big schools and hurt mid-majors and low-majors.

Anyone else notice Chris Reynolds seated courtside in that special section right next to the floor. They are probably the NCAA Basketball Committee, of which Dr. Reynolds is currently the Vice Chair. He will take over as the Chairman for 2022-23.

Second game last night was one for the ages. I was pulling for Duke, because I like Coach K. Now I'll root for UNC, only because Kansas has the best players Adidas can buy.

                      haha! So true!

This is why I think they should just open it up completely and let these kids sign contracts for whatever amount of money they can get. It's so skewed and dirty now, what difference would it make. At least then, if the big boys guessed wrong on a recruit, they'd end up paying a high price (literally) for him.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Kansas wins the NCAA Tournament 72-69. North Carolina had a terrible shooting night, just 23-73 (31.5%), but they compensated by outrebounding Kansas 55-35, including 24 offensive rebounds (compared to 8 for KU). The game was close through most of the 2nd half, and North Carolina had three shots in the final 15 seconds to tie, but missed all three.

I dont really care if they won. It's a moot point. They cheat to get their players and the NCAA punishes them by allowing them into the tournament and win it. It is not a level playing field. The media was starting to ask the NCAA questions about Kansas and Bill Self before the tournament. I hope they continue to put pressure on the NCAA to do the right thing

I recall when Bradley upset Kansas in the 2006 NCAA Regional, their well-dressed and bleached blond fans were crying and cursing out the Bradley fans. They all seemed to feel some sort of entitlement, which is why they couldn't accept being beaten soundly by Bradley.
So I hope they finally get what they deserve- NCAA penalties. The NCAA has charged numerous Level 1 recruiting violations against Kansas and Bill Self stemming from the pay-for-play corruption scandal that grew from the FBI investigation and became public way back in 2017. But Kansas has escaped penalties so far by continually appealing and trying every legal trick available to them. The NCAA and federal government have created the IARP (Independent Accountability Resolution Process) to try to resolve the infractions and what should be done about them. But who knows when they will finish their investigation.

The school, Kansas is culpable in this when they try to defend Bill Self. They should get what the NCAA gave to SMU. Death Penalty!
