Saint Peter's becomes just the 3rd 15th seed ever to advance to the Sweet 16 as they never trailed in the game and beat Murray State 70-60. The game was tied 6 times in the first half but Murray State could never get the lead and ended up trailing 32-27 at the half. Saint Peter's opened the 2nd half with an 8-0 run to get their biggest lead of the game at 40-27 and the Racers tried their best to comeback and got it down to 59-57 with 4:07 left but, just like they did against Kentucky, Saint Peter's kept making big shots and pulled away to win it. Murray State's offense let them down in this game as they were just 18-52 overall, 8-24 from 3, and they were 16-25 from the FT line. Murray State has a lot coming back next season as they should enter the Mo Valley as one of the favorites.

Heh Jim ..How are you? Murray State is going to be very tough. I think Bradley will be very good next year especially with JaShon coming back but the whole conference is going to be tough. Belmont is impressive also.It depends on who comes back on the other teams but the conference could be better than this year. A lot better

And I dont think they will be any better next year. Kofi will probably be gone along with several of the other players. They do have a couple nice Freshmen. Speaking of part 2 of this. This Quad b***s**t. What are mid-major schools supposed to-do when the so called bigger schools wont play you. They everything to lose and nothing to gain. Maybe hope you can catch one in a tournament at the beginning of the season. The NCAA needs to come up with better selection parameters. They had RPI for awhile but too many mid-majors were getting in to the tournament and knocking out a school from the Power 5 so they canceled that

I know it's been mentioned on here before by several of us - 32 conferences would allow them to send the conference champion and tournament champion from every conference. If the conference champion and tournament champion are the same team, send the 2nd place team from the season. You could still put teams in regions, but draw seedings out of a hat instead of the esoteric way they do it now. Now that would be fair and would be far more interesting.
But we all know that's just a pipe dream. It's all about the money and the Power Conferences run the NCAA.
Why on earth 8 teams from one conference need to go to the tournament is beyond me. Their conference tournament should be their play-in round for March Madness. It's just infuriating to see the same teams year after year only because they are from the same big 5 or 6 conferences.Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

You would think the NCAA would wake up. Had St. Peter's not won the MAAC tournament, they would not have been in the Big Dance. What do you think the most watched/talked about game has been so far? Undoubtedly St. Peter's vs. Purdue. And St. Peter's vs. UNC will be the most watched game this weekend. How many other possible "Cinderellas" are not invited to the dance?
Instead, we get nine Big Ten teams, who go (yawn) 9-9 and none make the Elite 8. I don't mind three, four, or even five from the same conference. But nine?
I agree. All conference champs are deserving. Make the regular season mean something. Either make the play-in round a bit bigger, or limit the number of teams a conference can get in. It's common sense.Yajusneverno!

Isn't it up to the conferences themselves to determine who gets their auto-bid though? Any conference can choose to have their regular season conference champion be rewarded the auto-bid just like the Ivy league does.
I would like to see a rule put in place that a conference cannot have more than half its teams make it, that would have saved us from a couple Big Ten teams this year and regularly help keep down Big 12 and ACC numbers. It could even help in rolling back the momentum of super conference formation like the SEC is set to become. Money, or at least its pursuit, has ruined what many of us have enjoyed about college sports over the last 30 years. I would much prefer a return to smaller, regional conferences where all members play each other each year.

The Ivy League instituted a postseason conference tournament in 2017, the last conference to do so. Prior to that, it was the regular season champion who got the automatic NCAA Tournament bid. But, since the Ivy League's postseason tournament began in 2017, it's now the tournament winner who gets the auto-bid, just like with all other conferences. This season (2022) was the first year that the tournament winner was not the regular season champion or co-champion. Yale upset the #1 seeded Princeton team to get the auto-bid. They lost in the first round of the NCAAT to Purdue.
Princeton then got an automatic bid to the NIT. They also lost their first game, to VCU.

Villanova out uglied Houston to advance to their third Final Four since 2016. Both teams shot the ball terribly. Villanova shot 15-52 overall, 5-21 from 3 while Houston shot 17-57 overall, a butt ugly 1-20 from 3 and just 9-14 from 1. The difference was the Wildcats, who leads the NCAA in FT shooting %, were 15-15 from there. They will face the winner between Kansas and Miami
