The game was close throughout the first half as there were 13 lead changes and the Bears were down 47-41 at the half. They cut it to 50-45 with 18:00 left but got outscored 17-5 over the next 5:00 minutes and never were able to get it close again. Isiaih Mosely had 28 points and 10 rebounds.

I watched both the Missouri State and Belmont games. In the Missouri State game there was not a whole lot of passing. Alot of I ball/meball. I was impressed with Belmont. They pass the ball around to get a good shot and played good defense. I liked them. They were a good team and will be a good addition to the MVC. They remind me of Northern Iowa

Speaking of UNI they beat St. Louis 80-68. They never trailed in the game and led by as much as 13 in the first half before St. louis was able to cut the lead to 5 at the half. They got it to 55-51 with 14:22 left when the Panthers went on a 20-0 run for the next 8:00 minutes to put the game away.UNI's big 3 as usual led the way. AJ Green had 21, Noah Carter had 19 and Trey Berhow had 18. UNI will play the winner of the game going on now between Long Beach St and BYU. With 17:00 to go in the game Long Beach is up 52-50.

UNI will play at BYU as the Cougars outscored Long Beach by 22 in the last 17 minutes of the game to win 93-72. Hopefully the big 3 and the rest of the team can play at altitude.

UNI's season has come to an end, losing at BYU 90-71. The first 14:00 of the first half saw 9 lead changes and 5 ties and UNI had a 10 point lead early but BYU is really tough at home and made thgeir way back to lead by 5 at the half. UNI got it to 2 with 18:00 to go but that was as close as it would get. BYU went on an 11-0 5:00 run to extend the lead to 17 and UNI just wasn't able to make any runs. For the game UNI was 26-58 overall, 11-27 from 3. Not too shabby on the road. Unfortunately BYU was 36-69 overall, 16-37 from 3. The big question for UNI has to be does AJ Green stay one more year or transfer to a Big 5 conference school? Maybe join his Dad at Iowa State? If he comes back along with Noah Carter I think they will be among the Favorites in the Valley.

This is the final year that the NIT will be held in New York City. Starting in 2023, the NCAA (which owns the NIT) will select different sites each year to host the semifinals and finals of the men's NIT. They have already accepted bids from a number of cities to host in 2023 and 2024, but they have not announced the winning sites yet.

End of an era for the NIT in Madison Square Garden. For a long time, the entire tournament was played there and it was a really big deal for a school to play in the NIT. It was once more prestigious than the NCAA tourney even though conference champions usually didn't get an invite to participate in it (before post-season conference tourneys).

My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

And that is why the NCAA bought it and is watering it down . It drew just as much attention as the NCAA

It drew more attention than the NCAA did. Anyone remember when Al McGuire turned down an invite to the NCAA in favor of taking Marquette to the NIT?

                                NIT Final- Xavier 73 Texas A&M 72
                                Box score- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId/401411719

The game stayed very close most of the 2nd half, and Xavier went ahead on a 2-point shot with 5 seconds left. Then Texas A&M missed a final 3-pointer at the end, and Xavier wins their first NIT 73-72.

Edit: correction- this is Xavier's second NIT championship. They also own in 1958.
