Here is the reason they chose Northwestern State...Their long-time head coach Mike McConathy just retired, and they hired Corey Gipson, who was Associate Head Coach at Missouri State under Dana Ford. So both players must have had a very close relationship with Gipson, and maybe not so much with Dana Ford.

Podziemski is a very talented kid and IMO would be a stud in the MVC. I am sure Bradley coaches are familiar with him, since he is from St. John's Northwestern prep school in Wisconsin, a state where all our coaches have deep recruiting connections. I don't believe Bradley recruited him, since he became a high-major caliber recruit early. He rode the bench mostly in his freshman season at Illinois (4.3 minutes per game in 16 games). He was a 4-star recruit, the 2021 Wisconsin Mr. Basketball, and the 2021 Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year, and averaged 35.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 4.0 steals as a senior in HS.
He had offers in high school from Kentucky, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Miami, Arizona State, Marquette, DePaul, and others. He'll get calls from many of those schools. It would be surprising if he ended up in the MVC.

That's too bad. I liked his development potential at Illinois, but I get it with them bringing in 3 top 100 guards. He has the chance to be quite the scorer regardless of level.

Fleming started 23 of 30 games this season, and averaged 5.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg, and he shot 40.0% from three, 2nd highest on the team to Josiah Strong, who also is in the transfer portal.
