Will Richard, 6'5 Fr. guard for Belmont enters the portal. Big deal for the Bruins as he was OVC all frosh and projected to be their 3rd best player next year.

Ja'Monta Black was Missouri State's 3rd leading scorer behind only Isiaih Mosley and Gaige Prim. He shot 39% from three and made more three pointers than anyone on the Missouri State team. And as houstonbrave said, he is a long time close friend of Isiaih Mosley. They attended the same high school together, won a state championship, and were both recruited in the same class to come to Missouri State. There is speculation that this move increases the chances that top scorer Isiaih Mosley might also consider transferring, despite getting paid by boosters in a NIL deal designed to keep him at MSU.

One other new MVC player was also added to the list of MVC transfers today, Nick Hittle, a 6'10" redshirt-freshman at Indiana State. He was recruited and committed to Indiana State under Greg Lansing, but redshirted his first year (2020-21). This year (2021-22), as a redshirt freshman. he played very little under new head coach Josh Schertz. He appeared in 16 games, averaged just 6.5 minutes per game, and averaged 2.9 ppg and 1.1 rpg. He shot 41% from three (11-27).

Updated list of MVC players in the transfer portal so far-
Troy Boynton- Evansville (freshman who redshirted this past season)
Keaton Hervey- Missouri State (senior with 1 more season of eligibility)
Tyreke Key- Indiana State (5th year senior with 1 more season of eligibility)
      Emmette Page- Evansville
      Jayson Kent- Bradley
      Sekou Dembele- SIU
      Antonio Reeves- ILSU
      Demarcus Sharp- MSU
      Ja'Monta Black- MSU
      Nick Hittle- INSU

Another MVC transfer- Valparaiso 6'8" freshman guard Keyondre Young has entered the transfer portal. He played in only 8 games before a wrist and thumb injury ended his season. He would be eligible for a redshirt season. In the 8 games he played, he averaged 4.6 ppg and sot 40% from three (8-20).

I really like Edwards and thought he was extremely athletic and smart with the ball. I think this is a pretty big loss for Valpo and I can't help but feel bad for Lottich.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

This could mean that AJ Green isn't coming back, and Carter doesn't want to be part of a rebuild.

Maybe. But I think the the opposite may be true. Green leaving would leave Noah as THE MAN. Green returning may mean more of the same with Noah screening for Green or 5'8" Bowen Born at crunch time. You may be right though.

Does anyone know if the transfer portal the way it is now is a permanent thing? I'm not liking the pattern that seems to be developing. Lower teams losing players because they just don't want to be there anymore and pretty good players leaving because they think they can move up to a power conference.

My observation as well. The Portal destroys low/mid-majors. Look at Western Illinois for example. They had their first competitive team in years and most of their better players are in portal looking to level-up. Coaches rebuild their team annually

5'9" Troy University guard Duke Deen is in portal. As I recall BU offered him out of high school.
