Only 1 lead change so far this half as Drake leads 55-52 with 7:44 left. Mosley has 0 points in the 2nd half but Prim has 11. And it’s still all five Drake starters who have scored for them with Tucker DeVries leading the way with 16

3:49 left and MSU leads 62-59. Prim is having a game in the second half as he has 15 of his 17 points. I was curious to see how much fight the Bears have and they are showing it right now

What a game! The seniors (Penn, Murphy, Sturtz, Hemphill) are really stepping up for Drake. And the usual stars, Prim, Mosley, and Clay, are carrying MSU.

Drake 68 MSU 66 with 8 seconds left, MSU's ball.

Mosley was looking for the last shot for MSU, but made a smart play to pass off to Donovan Clay who was able to make a layup to tie the game.
Tremell Murphy and Tucker DeVries both have 4 fouls for Drake headed to OT. Nobody with more than 3 for MSU.

Thanks to a 3-pointer by DeVries, Drake now has a 77-76 lead with 25 seconds left, MSU ball

Prim put MSU ahead 78-77 with a terrific drive down the lane, then Drake freshman DeVries was fouled driving at the other end.
He made the first FT to tie 78-78, and now a time out. 1.1 seconds on the clock.

Second FT good. Drake now ahead 79-78. MSU inbounding with 1.1 seconds. Unless Mosley can bail MSU out like he did at Bradley, Drake will advance.

                    Drake wins 79-78-

It will be the #2 seed Drake vs. the #4 seed Loyola tomorrow at 1:00 pm (Central) on CBS.
That's the same matchup as last year's championship game, which Loyola won 75-65.

DeVries made 2 FT’S with 1.1 seconds to go in OT and held on to win 79-78. Donovan Clay caught a full court pass in the corner and had a good look but it hit the rim and bounced off. The Bears had gone up 1 after a layup by Prim with 10 seconds left. Drake brought it up quickly and DeVries drove the lane and a blocking foul was called, a call I’ve seen Valley refs call a charge. This was a wonderful college basketball game. Mosley was shut down by Shanquan Hemphill for about 13 minutes if the 2nd half but Mosley scored 8 of their last 14 points of regulation and got the ball to Clay who layed it up with under a second to go to send it to OT. Mosley led all scorers with 27 points while Prim had 21. For Drake DeVries had 23 and Roman Penn had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. After seeing 7 pretty crappy basketball games it was nice to how good this one was.

The officiating in the tournament this year was wildly inconsistent and the Drake Missouri St game was the worst case, but was glad to see Drake pull it out. They really played hard and earned the win, and well, I just don’t like Missouri State.

Williamson really did a number on Green and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look so bad, even tossing up an air ball. Kudos to Loyola for some amazing man to man defense, but I still hate them with a passion.

The Drake game had so many fouls I couldn’t keep track. Wildly inconsistent and the no calls were as bad as the constant whistles. Beyond the officiating, Mosley scored a boatload but I thought Hemphill played great defense on him in the 2n half especially and a lot of Mosley’s points came when they switched up defenders.

Really hope Loyola loses tomorrow but it sure seems like they’re playing at a different level right now.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Isiaih Mosley refuses to commit to returning to Missouri State next season.

He is just a junior, and with the extra Covid year, he has 2 seasons of eligibility left. On the other hand, Gaige Prim is out of eligibility. Maybe that is one reason Mosley might look to transfer elsewhere. MSU will not be getting an NCAA bid this season, and it certainly looks like the team will not be as strong next season. So if Mosley wants to play in the NCAA Tournament, he would likely need to do it with a different team. And if he does enter the transfer portal, there would be no shortage of Power 5 type schools, who are likely NCAA teams next season, who would pursue him.

Probably one of the best games I’ve watched in a while! Glad the Bears lost and hopefully Drake sends the Ramblers packing tomorrow…

I was happy to see Missouri State lose. They seemed to play very chippy, almost dirty at times.

I think Loyola is going to win tomorrow though, Drake doesn't have enough bench players that can contribute and I'm sure Drake is gasses after that game.

Here is a Twitter thread (from Missouri State beat writer) showing the blocking foul with 1 second left in overtime that give Drake's Tucker DeVries 2 free throws which gave Drake the 1 point win over Missouri State-
                                https://twitter.com/WyattWheeler_NL/...12797514813442

If you scroll down in the thread, some MSU fans naturally think the official made the wrong call. Being neutral, I would agree with the call. It clearly looks like a block, as Mosley is not set and is moving laterally to initiate the contact with DeVries. What do other Bradley fans think?
Now it could be argued that some officials would let it go and not blow their whistle for a crucial call with 1 second left in overtime. But if that happened, then Drake fans would have a pretty good case to be upset. The defender (Mosley) leaves his man and moves all the way across the lane to throw himself into the path of the shooter (DeVries). He appears to be moving into the shooter as contact is made, and it sure appeared to affect the shot. If that play happened at any earlier time in any game, it would be called a blocking foul 99% of the time, IMO.

In retrospect, I was surprised the Missouri State coach had a slower 6' guard (Patterson) guarding 6'6" DeVries, who is Drake's leading scorer, and was the most likely Drake player to take that final shot. And DeVries blew right past Patterson to get to the basket, causing Mosley to have to rush over as a secondary defender. Officials are much more likely to call a blocking foul when a secondary defender moves into the shooter's path like that.
