  • DJ Wilkins out for Drake

    ACL injury
    @AlyssaHertel

    Drake men's basketball will be without senior guard D.J. Wilkins in Arch Madness. The team confirmed today that Wilkins tore his ACL in Saturday's regular season finale against Southern Illinois. Really tough blow for the Bulldogs ahead of the tournament.

    D.J. Wilkins is apparently out for the rest of the game with what is being described as a knee inkury. He is on crutches with an ice bag on the knee. It does not sound good, but I suspect they plan to get more tests later.
    The above post was from last Saturday when D.J. Wilkins came down awkwardly and injured his knee in Drake's final game of the season against SIU. As braves16 posted, it was announced today that he tore the ACL, and will miss the rest of the season.

    Drake men's basketball guard D.J. Wilkins tears ACL, will miss entire postseason
    Drake men's basketball will not be at full strength for Arch Madness this weekend.
    D.J. Wilkins, widely regarded as one of the top perimeter defenders in the Missouri Valley Conference, will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season due to a torn ACL he sustained in the Bulldogs' regular season-ending win vs. Southern Illinois last week, the university announced in a release.
    This continues an unfortunate late-season injury recent trend for Drake, who was also without then-leading scorer ShanQuan Hemphill and starting point guard Roman Penn during last year's Valley tournament.
    Wilkins was named to the Valley's all-defensive team this season. He was averaging 10.3 points and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 39% from 3-point range.
