OK, time to second-guess...There were a couple choices I would disagree with.

Edit: Nevermind- Lu'Cye Patterson is a sophomore. My mistake.

The other major slight- Malevy Leons should be on the All Newcomer Team, IMO
Malevy's stats- Started 28 of 30 games, 29.3 mpg, 10.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg (6th highest in the MVC, and highest among all newcomers), 1.3 apg. Plus, he was one of the better defenders I saw all year among MVC big men.

Here are the stats of the 5 players on the All-Newcomer Team-
Tucker DeVries- Started 24 of 31 games, 29.4 mpg, 13.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.9 apg
Terry Roberts- Started 30 of 30 games, 28.7 mpg, 14.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 4.2 apg (lead MVC in league games)
Cameron Henry- Started 25 of 27 games, 29.8 mpg, 14.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.8 apg
Kobe King- Started 20 games (was not eligible until after 1st semester), 32.0 mpg, 14.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.3 apg
Chris Knight- Started 10 of 29 games, 17.6 mpg, 8.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 0.8 apg

All played well and deserve recognition, but IMO Malevy Leons belongs somewhere on that list.

          How's Mast not 2nd team?

Mast being 3rd team seems a tremendous oversight.
            BRADLEY BASKETBALL
            -2 NCAA Title Games
            -3 NCAA Elite Eights
            -4 NCAA Sweet 16s
            -4 NIT Championships

It seems as tho position does not factor in the equation. Just 5 best then next 5 and so on. I thought it was like 2 guards 2 forwards and a center. I was wrong

Absolutely! At least he got recognized by being voted to the All-Defensive Team.

I know we can't expect to get all our guys named to the postseason teams. And I suspect there are also fans from the other teams who think their players got jobbed.
But I can't believe Rienk isn't on the 2nd team at least. Rienk is the #1 rebounder in the league, 14th in scoring in MVC games (13.9 ppg- more than a couple of the 2nd teamers), 7th in blocks, and he had 9 double-doubles (2nd only to Gaige Prim's 10). On Kenpom, Rienk has the 5th best offensive rating in the entire league (yeah, I realize the voters probably don't look at Kenpom).

More on Malevy Leons not being on All-Newcomer list- He has the 2nd highest offensive rating in the MVC according to Kenpom, and 74th highest in the country. He ranks 6th in rebounds (#1 among newcomers), 2nd in blocks, 6th in FT% (83.3%), and one of the top big men in the league in 3pt% (39%).

And on Zek not on the Freshman team- in under 10 minutes per game, he averaged 3.5 ppg (more than Ruedinger did in 20 mpg!). Zek shot 50% from three and 80% on FTs in MVC games and contributed to multiple wins.

And one more gripe- Bradley did not land a single player on the All Defensive team, despite having the top defensive team in the MVC, by far the #1 rated team in FG% defense, #1 in 3pt FG%, #2 on blocks, #1 in overall rebounding, #1 in defensive rebounds, #1 in offensive rebounds, and #1 in rebound margin.

OK, I'm done. Let's show them in St. Louis!

Lu'Cye Patterson played in 23 games last year (2020-21), so he's a sophomore this year.
If 2nd year players are going to be considered as freshmen, then Bowen Born (and maybe even Rienk Mast, since last year was his first year) should also be on the All Freshman Team

As a biased observer, Mast deserves second team. Being unbiased there are a lot of quality players this year and it’s hard to pick the back end of 2nd team versus top of 3rd.

Leons absolutely deserved all newcomer team.

As far as all defensive team goes, I’m not sure which BU player was the most outstanding and deserving a spot. I’d vote Leons but the strength of Bradley was that we didn’t have many weak spots. Ville is probably our weakest defender but he’s a decent team defender and much better than most teams worst player.

Player of the year seemed to value team success highly. Mosly was statistical the best player in the league, ahead of Green in ppg, rpg, spg, and tied in apg. I was surprised Williamson had more 2nd place votes. He was the better defender and leader than Green or Mosly which are hard to statistically quantify. But it feels like Mosly was put behind those two because those two finished with the only chance to win the conference. Considering Mo State was one win behind UNI I don’t like the “best player on best team” argument for player of the year.
                    Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

An example- The Missouri State beat writer notes that 4 voters did not vote for Isiaih Mosley for either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the Player of the Year Award, and thinks they should be banned from ever voting again (not sure I can disagree).

Note that there was also 1 voter who did not vote for A.J. Green 1st, 2nd, or 3rd!

Here are the votes and who was voting. There were 50 voters, but the maximum number of votes any player could receive was 46, since the 4 voters from each team could not vote for their own players. Note that Green got a total of 45 votes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd combines, while Mosley got 42. Those two are clearly the top 2 players in the league, so it is a bit mystifying that anyone would not have them in their top 3.
Who do you think those voters voted 1, 2, and 3?

I’d be interested to see the other votes. Who got the 7 other second place votes? Or the other 28 third place votes? I could see an argument being made for Roberts, Prim, Williamson, or Reeves for third, but one guy didn’t think Green was top three and 4 didn’t think Mosley was top three? That’s crazy. You can’t force voters to include any particular player but they deserve criticism for outlandish bias and maybe a reprimand from the league for poor sportsmanship.
