Howell and Ville are giving absolutely nothing out there. I see both standing around a lot on defense as guys cut past them, and they can't make shots hardly at all. These are experienced guards and our main bench players. Howell is a 5th year point guard that only has a good lob to Boya once in a while, and that seems to be it. That cannot happen. Defense and turnovers have to be better to compete in March.
When Ville is not hitting from 3 he brings absolutely nothing to this team.

And more often than not this year, he hasn't. By my count, only 6 games 50% or up and only 8 40% or up from three.

Ughhh…let’s put this one behind us and just focus on getting back to doing all the little things right, starting with Evansville this weekend.

Bright spot was Zeke got some minutes and hit some shots.

            Article from BradleyBraves.com-
Cedar Falls, Iowa – The Bradley men's basketball team had its four-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night, falling at Northern Iowa, 78-65. The Braves are now 12-11 on the season and 6-5 versus Missouri Valley Conference foes, while the Panthers improve to 12-9 and 8-3 in league play.

BU looked tired last night, and the defense UNI threw at us was smothering, but a large part of that is that our passing wasn't good or quick and we did far too much dribbling. Give it to UNI, though. Defensively, they got right up in our grill and we didn't respond.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Did the team make it back ok?
Attendance looked bad last night. The paper had it listed at 2600 but on tv it looked about 1000 or so less. Other than cold, the weather shouldn't have been a factor. I saw some of the SIU game and they looked like they had less than a thousand, but they were dealing with crappy weather.

Always tough to beat UNI at home. Ben Jacobson is a heck of a coach, in my opinion. I have always thought one difference between BU and UNI is we recruit athletes, and Jacobson recruits shooters. And I'm not just talking about AJ Green, the best player in the league. It seems like year in and year out, they've got guys who can shoot the ball.

                  Let's bounce back at Evansville.

I agree with this.Lets move on and take care of business. We have to beat Evansville then take care of business at home. If we do that we will be right back in the thick of it again. Northern Iowa is going to be beating teams at home so that should help us also

I've said for years we need shooters. Mid-Majors need shooters to win consistently. We are better this year than last year, but imagine if we had a Nate Kennell in starting lineup at guard right now? Ville hasn't been able to improve since freshman year and take that roll. I like Kent a lot more than most, but he isn't a sharp-shooter yet either. He brings a more all around game. HIckman maybe someday, but he isn't there consistently yet either. A sharp-shooting wing needs to be priority one for next year, even ahead of backup PG and 5-man to me. You add a strong shooting/scoring wing to this starting 5, that will be dangerous next year.

Time will tell but let's see how we respond to this game. I said last night that we might have needed this game to get us to realize what it takes each game. Remember this is the youngest team in the Valley and this starting 5 could be together for 2 more years if the juniors want the extra year of eligibility.

This team responded very well after that devastating loss at Illinois State, when ISU overcame a 20-point Bradley lead to dominate the Braves in the 2nd half. Bradley followed that up with a 4 game winning streak. Let's hope they can bounce back again.

The Braves "broke my heart" this past Wednesday - I thought the team had actually turned the corner - along with other posts such as "The Unstoppable Combo"..... Da Coach - what you shared would be a start along with defeating Chicago Loyola (this Wednesday), Drake (Feb 12), Illinois State (Feb 19) and Missouri State (Feb 23) - all of this would be a start to "mending my heart" ...Anything short and I'll question this teams chances come tournament time.

                            GO BRAVES !!!!

And I think they will. They get better each game. Their inexperience resulted in 18 turn overs. You take away 6 of those turnovers that resulted in points for the other team and they may have won the game
