Valparaiso starting guard Trevor Anderson, who was a Bradley recruit and visited Bradley back in 2015 when he was a junior at Stevens Point High School in Wisconsin, will miss the rest of this season with a back injury. He played on the same high school team with Sam and Joey Hauser, who got much more recruiting attention, but Anderson had a number of D1 offers himself, and ended up at Wisconsin-Green Bay. But after 1 season at Green Bay, he left and accepted a walk-on spot at the University of Wisconsin. After sitting out a year, he played 3 seasons at Wisconsin, though he never saw much playing time. Then with the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA this year, he transferred to Valparaiso. He became an immediate starter and key part of the team, averaging double digits, until the back injury started to limit his playing time. His playing time and production dropped off sharply the last few games.
He started Valpo's game against Bradley this past Wednesday, but he appeared to reaggravate the back injury in the first half and came out of the game. He was wearing a back brace on the bench and did not play at all in the 2nd half. He finished the game with 0 points in 14 minutes.
Here is a Twitter thread from the former Valparaiso beat writer Paul Oren outlining Andersons career-long history of injuries-
Andersons final stats this season: 9.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and he was Valpo's assist leader. Valpo has a lot of guards on the roster, including a couple freshman point guards (Preston Ruedinger and Darius DeAveiro) who will get more playing time in Anderson's absence.
