Indiana State played only 7 players again because they have several out with Covid, and they lead at UNI for most of the game. But UNI came back and tied the game at the end of regulation. In OT, UNI pulled ahead to with 80-74

Valparaiso played great at Loyola, while the Ramblers had a relatively poor shooting game.
Valpo never trailed in regulation, and had a double-digit lead for much of the game. But Loyola made a late run to tie with 16.8 seconds left and send the game to overtime. In OT, the teams traded baskets, and it remained tied 66-66 at the end of OT. But, in the second OT, Loyola started hitting their 3-point shots and pulled ahead to win 81-74.

The officials seemed a bit friendly to Loyola, IMO, especially in the 2nd half that helped their comeback. Despite Valpo leading all but the final seconds of the 2nd half, the personal foul calls in the 2nd half were 17 on Valpo to just 10 on Loyola. And Loyola shot 14 FTs in the 2nd half, compared to just 2 FTs for Valpo.

This is one of the key reasons I really doubt that Loyola will win the MVC tournament. They currently win at their home close games due to friendly officials. (The officials must enjoy making the home crowd cheer.) Loyola will not have this advantage in St. Louis. Loosing in the MVC tournament is a fitting ending for Loyola’s final MVC game.

Imagine my shock. Loyola is by far the worst homer call court in the Valley, so I say good riddance to those bums and I hope they get slaughtered in their new conference. Yes, that is sour grapes, but I have visited Gentile several times and am no fan of those jabronies. Also the worst venue in the Valley (on a side note, just went to Indiana State for the first time and it was pretty amazing, though Illinois State is still the cream of the crop, regardless of how painful that is for me to admit).

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

It will be tough for Loyola in the Atlantic 10 next season, as they will be in a rebuilding mode. Six of their regular rotation players are grad students or 5th year seniors who are in their final season of eligibility. Lucas Williamson, Aher Uguak, Tate Hall, Ryan Schwieger, Keith Clemons, and Chris Knight will be gone next season. That is 6 of their top 9 players in minutes played, 61% of their scoring and 57% of their rebounding.
I'm sure we all wish them good luck in their first season in the A-10.
