Bradley's (7-9, 1-3) next game is at home Wednesday, Jan. 12, against Evansville (4-10, 0-3).

Evansville was picked 8th in the MVC preseason poll, Bradley was picked 6th-
For the first time on record, Drake has been picked as the preseason favorite in the Missouri Valley Conference men’s basketball race by a voting panel consisting of coaches, sports information directors and media.

Evansville is the only winless team in the MVC and they are currently in 10th place with their 0-3 record. Bradley (1-3) is currently tied for 8th place-

Evansville's 0-3 record includes 2 very close losses- They've lost to: SIU at home 54-52, at UNI 63-61, and at home to Drake 60-59. Their game at Indiana State Jan. 5 was postponed due to Covid, and a makeup game scheduled Sunday, Jan. 9 against Illinois State was also postponed.

4 of Evansville's starters have been consistent. They include two 4th year seniors- 5'10" guard Shamar Givance (14.6 ppg) and 6'3" guard Jawaun Newton (14.3 ppg), and two 5th year players- 6'4" guard Noah Frederking (7.8 ppg) and 6'8" forward Evan Kuhlman (6.9 ppg). Those are also their top 4 scorers.
Their 5th starter has changed often. It had been junior college transfer 6'7" forward Antoine Smith, Jr. (6.4 ppg), who played his freshman year at Incarnate Word, then spent a couple years at Collin County CC in Texas, but head coach Todd Lickliter started a different junior college transfer, 6'3" guard Blaise Beauchamp (6.6 ppg) in their game Jan. 2nd against UNI, and he was their leading scorer for that game with 14 points. But then in their most recent game Jan. 8, the 5th starter was 6'8" freshman Preston Phillips, who was scoreless in 18 minutes.

Evansville ranks 10th in team scoring (61.5 ppg) and scoring margin (-5.1 ppg), They also rank 10th in FG% (40.7%), FG% Defense (47.1%), 3pt FG% (32.3%), 3pt FG% Defense (38.6%), assists (10-3 apg), rebounding (29.8 rpg), offensive rebounding (6.1 rpg), and defensive rebounding (23.6 rpg).

Time to turn the tide and remember how good it feels to win. Must win game here.
Get to 2-3 and you have a shot still at Top 4.

We have played well our last 7 games or so other than at Indy St. - just came up short a few times.

Gotta get Roberts back in the groove too. He is All-MVC caliber and has just 10 combined pts in the last 2 games.

I haven't heard anything, but I have a good vibe that Henry will be back tomorrow or the next game.

I just re-watched the Loyola game on Youtube in case anybody is interested. Damn! we came so close. I did see Henry sitting with the team in street clothes. Hope he gets back soon. Cant help but think he would have a made a difference in our losses. The positive about Henry being out is that somebody has to step up and that has been Kent. I think that will help down the stretch

Certainly hope we see the Roberts from two games ago plus Henry is ready to play. We need both of them.

Very true. We've really missed Henry's toughness and he really helps open things up for Roberts.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

According to Dave Eminian of the PJ Star, Ja'Shon Henry remains "day to day". He has missed Bradley's last 5 games.

I found the stat from the Loyola game interesting where it showed that we were 7-1 when scoring 70 points or more and we lost to Loyola with 69 points. Definitely seems to be our magic number, so let's hope we hit that tonight.

I care more about Ja'Shon Henry than Hanery, DC. LOL (just playin')

I was at that game. We have an incredible ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Definitely need to win this one to get the confidence back. We lose, and this is going to be a long two months to Thursday.

Started sloppy, but good to see us never let up. Hopefully this gets our main guys going. If Mast and Roberts can consistently do their thing, then I think Kent, Leons, and Hickman form a nice dynamic group on both ends playing off them. I’d like to see Leons become the third go to guy with Roberts/Mast as well. Add in Henry at some point, and I still feel optimism we can turn this around despite everything. A long way to go to call this year a success, but if we keep growing we can end this year and go into next year looking pretty good. Tonight’s game certainly lends itself to more optimism than any game so far, but we need to keep growing on Sunday otherwise it’s just an anomaly.

Glad for the win but Evansville is really bad.

Anytime you can win a conference game by 32 that's a positive even if they are really bad like Evansville. I wonder how the team will gel when they get Henry back. Obviously Henry is a good player but it seems there are times where Bradley moves the ball on offense and shoots the 3 so much better since he's been injured. When he returns I hope they can use him properly and not have him iso too much and take away from the good spacing they currently have because as a cutter, lob threat, and defensive presence inside he is missed. But he can't shoot so keeping that spacing will be key when he returns. Overall, I'm happy with the win but gotta keep it going to avoid Thursday at least
