This is the 3rd straight season that Bradley and Toledo have played. This was originally scheduled as a home-and-home series in Peoria (2019-20 season) and in Toledo (2020-21 season). But the two teams met in the Xavier Invitational last season, so the return game to Toledo was moved to this season.
12/28/2019- Bradley beat Toledo in Carver Arena 78-66 behind 29 points from Darrell Brown, Jr.-

Toledo always seems to be a decent team, so I'm looking forward to seeing how we handle them after taking down UNI and handing out near 30 point losses to Maine and SIU-Edwardsville. It's amazing how my feelings about this team have changed so drastically in the last few weeks! Funny how hitting shots can change your fortune so quickly! Let's keep it rollin' Braves!

I watched the condensed version of their competitive game with MSU this weekend. Toledo looks like a quality basketball team but was outmanned when trying to execute their sets. In the second half, they just started driving the ball and playing loose, and outscored MSU for the half. I think this will be a tough game for Bradley, but I like our pop right now.

If the shots fall, this game looks winnable. If the ball does not pass through the hoop and netting.... on a regular basis, mind you... then it will be a tough one to get on the road.

This sums up this team in a nut shell. I really think our inside game is as good as we have had in a number of years but we need the outside shots to fall to open up the inside game otherwise the other team will just pack it in down low. That's what happened in the first few games.

This will be a good test to see where the team is. After the last two games I think we can win this one, although it will be a tough one on the road.

Great assessment BN and Dub. I have to say, the shooting in the last 3 games has got me feeling pretty positive about this team. I think we've got 5-6 legit 3 point threats. You don't need them all to be on to have a great night.

Here is a breakdown of some shooting stats...
The 3 games since Bradley returned from the Paradise Jam were all wins- BU over Maine 71-39, BU over UNI 71-69, and BU over SIUE 80-55.

The combined shooting stats in these last 3 games:
              78-155 overall (50.3%), 30-68 from three (44.1%), and 36-57 on Free Throws (63.2%).
So indeed, Bradley has shot extremely well in the last 3 games, except from the FT line.

Prior to these last 3 games (in the first 6 games), Bradley's stats:
              155-383 overall (40.5%), 44-150 from three (29.3%), and 62-102 on FTs (60.8%).

Current combined shooting stats for all 9 games:
              233-538 overall (43.3%), 71-218 from three (32.6%), and 98-159 (61.6%).

              MVC stats:
              http://www.mvc.org/mbb/stats/confldrs.htm
              Bradley stats: https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sit...dley_stats.pdf

              Bradley ranks:
              9th in FG% (43.3%)
              8th in 3pfFG% (32.6%
              10th in FT% (61.6%)

Great stats, coach! Thanks for sharing that! Now just think what we could do if we could get that free throw shooting to a respectable level!

Good point Tommy. I can’t figure out why so many college basketball players cannot shoot free throws. It’s all about fundamentals. Nobody in your face guarding you. That’s why they call them free.

Amen to that! I remember seeing a video decades ago of Rick Pitino teaching how to shoot free throws. I watched it and immediately improved on my own free throw shooting afterward. Watching our guys shoot them is painful at times, and other than Ville and Hickman, I don't think anyone is shooting them well.

Pretty sure this is the video I'm thinking of. Maybe someone could share this with the Braves!

Braves need to devote an entire practice to shooting FTs.....embarrassing!
